Whether they are still open or not, I saw one in Benfleet and another at Chelmsford College.

Try signing up to the training providers (QA, Firebrand etc) or have a look at your local college.

If I find any, I'll update you :-) (looking at some myself!)

That would of been perfect, apart from I'm not 18 :(

How old are you?

I would contact the school directly and speak to them. If you show how interested you are they may make an exception.

I have just finished my QA apprenticeship. I would recommend calling their team on 0845 074 7825 as they were really helpful signing me upand offer you a great amount of support throughout your apprenticeship.

My advice is to ask schools directly. I had quite an issue finding decent applicants for our apprentice slot. We are obviously signed up with a training provider but if the candidates dont contact our particular provider or notice their literature/recruitment then I wont get to know. A 16 year old applicant would need to be exceptional though; since we are a sixth form I would need to be convinced of the candidates maturity. We have had a 17 year old apprentice in the past, he was a young leader in the scouts so had a decent extra curricular portfolio to back him up.

I think that is going to be my best way at doing this.

Google the it skills managment its something like itskillsman.co.uk they are the provider who found our apprentice for us in sussex.

They already have my details on record. I apply for a apprenticeship and the company decided they wanted someone in London instead.

They where very good when we used them and nice and efficient - I'm sure when something comes up they will be in touch. It is just a case of waiting for one to appear I guess!

Perhaps if you have time you could potentially volunteer at a local school over the summer holidays? I'm sure they would love a hand and it gets you experience if not only basic things such as setting up machines/imaging etc.

Yep, I might have to do that. After the 13th June, I'm off still September and the volunteering could lead to bigger things :D

Exactly, i started in IT removing 3 computer rooms worth of kit and replacing it all, on a temporary contract for 3 weeks with no intention of doing IT

Nearly 7 years later I'm still in the gamr and work as a tech consultant!

Definitely contact the schools directly. I know that several people on here have bemoaned the lack of IT savvy youngsters to train up so you may well have a chance. Make sure your letter is informative- citing your IT knowledge - especially anything you have done in your own time to learn more. DO check spelling, grammar and sense though!

I'm going to try and do that. After I leave school, I'm going to write to some of the schools in my Local area.

Le Edit: Can someone please check out my CV please, if they wanted to? :p
