It's not the best photo in the world but I kinda like it. Took it yesterday on the local beach and considering it was on my phone I'm really pleased with it.

A few days camping in Kent, found an amazing campsite in a forest that took me back to scouts days ( Campfires, rope swings etc...) very cool and great fun... 7hr drive back to Brum not so great :-s

@DocHouse where abouts is this? I live in Kent and I think I recognize it.

It sure is a little island, did you recognise the Dedigama Pawning centre ?

It's a little town called Tangalle on the South Easterly Coast of Sri Lanka - spent the first half of Easter break there.

Of course Tangalla is one of the beautiful costal area . don't forgot to visit Arugambay on your next visit.

A cuple of pics of the Masn bees we have in our garden. They have been living over 3 generations (years) in our bee house. They are solitary bees and the males emege first followed by teh females who left their 'nests' just the other day. These pictures are of one female restocking the chamber to lay an egg in.

I so need a better macro lens!

Will do, i heard the east coast is an upcoming place. It's cheap enough to get there from here and there are always unexpected opportunities...

Some kind of Syrphidae, commonly a hoverfly. Did you use a tripod or handhold?

While the bug macros are coming out, here's one of mine:

Taken on my 40D with a 50mm Zuiko macro lens from the Olympus OM system with OM->EF adaptor, on 2 extension tubes, tripod, Pringles tube diffused flash snout... MacGyver!

Handheld

Nice. I very occasionally get really close up hand-held, but they rarely work well. Sometimes though, they come out OK :

(about 2/3 crop from the full frame - this was some kind of Italian fly who happened to be passing).

Wow, that is really good. Most of the time my autofocus screws me over when doing close up shots.
