KoolTech Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Hi, Does anyone use a FOG server for image deployment? I have tried to set one up and get the login screen when I put the ip address into a machine, however I cant get any machines to PXE boot. Am I missing something? I have 066 FOGSERVER and 067 pxelinux.0 set in DHCP but it still wont work!! Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.
3s-gtech Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 We have one here, still going strong after 6 years. Do your PCs attempt to PXE boot? Do they give an error message when trying? You should get a menu with the logo and a few options if it loads correctly - make sure that you have a recent kernel set in FOG that will have a wider range of drivers installed. Our current kernel happily images Ivy Bridge and AMD E-Series machines so fairly up to date.
KoolTech Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 They don't really attempt to they try and boot from network then don't do anything, just go straight through and boot to windows. I have built one before successfully at my last school which is even more annoying! Cant figure out what it wont work!!

seawolf Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Sounds like the client may not be getting a response from the DHCP server. Have you checked the DHCP server for the MAC address of the client to see if an address is requested or provided? You may need to use wireshark to see what requests the client is sending out and what the server is responding with (if anything). You may need an ip-helper if you are PXE booting across VLANs.

You can also play about with the current active kernel by moving them about in your SCP client of choice.
