Tesla Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Just looking at an exam practice app for network+, this question came up Maybe i'm thinking too much into this, but it gave the answer as B "manufacturers website" Surely that's illogical as he has no internet??? (for the record i put A)
synaesthesia Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Typical question set by someone with no idea. Answer could really be any of them depending on circumstance. He may have connection via other means, it doesn't specify that it's an additional NIC though so you would assume it's in place of an existing or the onboard one. However maybe it also assumes the user has access to another machine or something. There needs to be some set rules, things the examinee should be able to use in cases like this to narrow it down.

Questions often come up that are written like this. I'd suggest reading all the questions carefully, selecting your answer and don't second guess yourself. You'll get far more questions correct than if you pick an answer and second guess it. I'd have picked 'A' for the same reason. Edited March 11, 2014 by Snuffkins

ninjashadow Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 i would agree. As someone that has taken the N+ test there are so many questions that could be one of 2 or even 3 answers. For the record i would have said A, (i probably did when i took the test.) But that seems the only logical answer, unless you have another device to go to the manufactures website then it would be b, but there is nothing in the question about another device.. my 2c worth

Wish they had comments or 'other' options on some of these exams, had the same with the A+ on a few. For the exam I would have put A for the answer however I would have done the same as @MatthewL with regards to downloading the latest from the relevant manufacturers website be it Intel / Marvel Yukon / Broadcomm or whoever. Some computers now generally have more then one NIC ( wired and wireless ) so could possibly use one NIC to connect to the internet ( so the wireless card ) instead of the Physical LAN connection ?? As it states there is no internet connection or connectivity on the one computer then I would use another computer to download the driver, transfer it to a storage device ( usb memory stick / external hard drive or if need be burn it to a cd ) so I could use it on the computer that needed the driver installing. Also with Windows 7 - it generally has a pretty good / extensive list of included drivers with the OS. Although there wasn't mention of what OS it is or was so am just guessing on the OS part Edited March 12, 2014 by mac_shinobi

But as you said, without it saying about whether you have internet etc, bit dumb Steve Thinking about it more if the driver from the cd ( that is supposedly included with the network card ) should at least get it connected at which point you can update the drivers from the internet
Arthur Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Do the questions in the Network+ exams assume you are using a Windows PC? Surely the questions should be OS agnostic?
