Simcfc73 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Hi, I have a Acer S5200 projector which has some blurring in the middle of the screen. The bulb was replaced 6 months ago and I have wiped the lens but its still rubbish, when the projector is on you can see the lens is not perfectly clear. Has anyone replaced the lens on these before? Not sure if I can get spares for it (or its feasible)
ninjashadow Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 not to sound funny, but are you sure it is in focus as i have had kids messing around with the focus and zooms on our projectors ?
APMerry Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Assuming it's out of warranty? Do you have a spare lamp you could try to rule that out?
Oaktech Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Did the previous lamp explode? I had a lamp expire in an epson projector that peppered the LCD panel with glass fragments and made it look blurry in exactly the way you describe. The projector went in the bin!
3s-gtech Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 It's DLP, it's a known issue with a large number of them (faulty chips?). We have had to bin three so far.
Simcfc73 Posted March 10, 2014 Author Posted March 10, 2014 Don't think it exploded if I recall, just popped. Might take it apart and have a look for the shards.
VeryPC_Colin_F Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Sounds like a faulty chip but I can not be sure - have you tried giving the filter a good clean?
Simcfc73 Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 I sent this off last week and got a quote through the post today. Replacement Module Engine £210.92 + £40 labour + vat comes to £301.10. I just bought a replacement for not much more than that.
