Afternoon all

I've decided I might treat myself to a new tablet but a little unsure of what to go for. I'd want an Android one over an iPad for personal preference (I am starting to come around to the iPad idea, however as I've had an Android phone for several years now would prefer to stick) and initially was thinking I'd want a 10" one but now starting to think I could go with smaller. Nexus 7 has always caught my eye but more recently the samsung Galaxy Tab 3.0 8" one.

Would anyone recommend one? I'll spend up to about £200/£250 but then wonder if the rumoured Nexus 8 is true do I just hold off a bit more for that....

Thanks :)

I've got the nexus 7 2012 and a friend has the 2013 version. Great tablets. My dad has just bought a song Xperia as he wanted a 10in and didn't fancy the nexus 10. He likes that too. I'll always sick with a nexus device for no bloatware and fast updates.

I'd wait until then if you can, lots of tablets will have their prices slashed so possibly could pick up a relatively new one for a lot cheaper.

Nexus 7's are good. Ive got a first edition one and its just as good as the second edition.

What do you want to do with it? I think 8 inches is a more useful size than 7, particularly if you have a good sized smart phone.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 8, which is great.

I want to do tablety stuff with it? ;)

To be honest, I find that rather then going and using my computer at home I'll pull out my phone and check something on that, general web browsing, the odd game, facebook etc. While my Nexus 4 is fine for that, it does have the obvious knock on effect on the battery plus it is a smaller screen. Something slightly bigger to do these, but something still portable is what I'm after hence knocking the 10" idea on the head a bit. Plus the Vodafone/Verizon deal recently gave me a little bit of cash I wasn't expecting (wish I'd had a lot more of those shares now) so it's starting to burn a little bit of a hole in my pocket.

I wanted one primarily to use whilst travelling and got a Hudl. It has an HDMI port and shed loads of memory. Tesco stick a load of annoying stuff on it but this can be removed. At £119, it's a steal (potentially less if you have a Tesco clubcard).

I have had a Nexus a Samsung 10inch and currently have the Samsung Galaxy tab 3 8inch which is by far my favourite tablet so far. 8 inches for me is the perfect size, easy to hold but large enough to watch films on.
