USB problem with Lenovo 3000 C200 laptops

We recently purchased 38 of these laptops for staff use, first of I had to update the BIOS to fix a stuttering mouse pointer issue, and there now seems to be a problem with USB on the laptops.

 

Am guessing its a Lenovo issue from the BIOS update, but was wondering if anyone had come accross this before?

 

When putting in a USB device e.g. USB pen drive, the USB will 'reset' (make the unplug and plug back in sound) when you press any key, this is extremely annoying when typing a Word document etc, I have tried update chipset drivers, downgraded the BIOS, and still have problems. I have tried to ring Lenovo who say its a software issue.

 

Any ideas?

Did the bios updates fix the wobbly mouse pointer?

 

Does the USB issue happen on ALL the laptops?

 

Could be one of the other devices utilizing resources it shouldn't. I know the sound driver can be a bit buggy.

I have not updated the BIOS on all machines as yet, around 10 and all are showing some signs of problems with the USB.

 

The BIOS update does fix the mouse problem, but I will try this on an non bios updated laptop as well as an updated one and see if it helps.

I thought that, but the mouse problem was present on a few we opened. It was also present in a second batch we got of 96 of these.

 

It could still be the image with the USB, although it only appears to start when we update the BIOS.

 

I have just updated the sound driver on one of these without the bios update, and it seems to help with the stuttering mouse.

I had a similar problem with mice on Lenovo 3000 laptops, but found that a different make of mouse sorted it out. What make of mice did you use originally?

I found Logitech mice better.

Yeah its the pad, just going back that sound update seemed to help a bit but still getting some slow down on the mouse.

I never use the pads if I can help it. Horrible things. Much more control with a normal mouse. But I did have problems with cheaper USB mice, until I switched to the Logitech.

Unrelated, but I've got a Lenovo 3000 N200 and although the camera is listed in the device mangler I can't seem to find a way to get it working (Vista).

The problem is, the web page was ever so slightly Korean. But I think the driver's in English. I'm sure you'll find out.

I found it when poking about on Lenovo's support site. Had a problem with loading XP, which turned out to be faulty RAM.

we have two 3000 C200 with problems...which are brand new, so will be contacting Lenovo when I return back to work "proper" after half term.

 

One wont boot at all...and gives the B.S.O.D when booting...but it disappears so quick you cant read it.

 

Second wont display properly through any projector due to fecked graphics card (i believe, as other laptops work fine when put through same projector)
