Can someone put into words how poor these specs are

got a load of #2's in one of my primary schools. Got donated to the school years ago and are still in service. Slow doesn't begin to describe it, even with 2GB RAM and a good hard drive in it. Not tried with a SSD, but as they are being scrapped in the summer when the building work starts, and we can redeploy some newer machines to rooms. If you can, scrap them and if money is tight get a refurb! Funnily enough can't find any companies wanting to take them off my hands either.

The DC7900s are good solid machines, that said we don't send them out with less than a 3GHz C2D CPU. More than adequate as office / it cuite machines though, they'll run win 7 nice a quickly.

 

That said the P4's are super old (even we stopped selling them a few years ago) but they would run win 7 32bit faster than XP.

We got mostly number 3 with SSDs and 4GB RAM (3 Usable)

 

A suite with number 2 but these are to be replaced this year,

 

Don't have any issues with either as they all fit the criteria required of them and they still pretty quick running Windows 7SP1,

 

We don't have a great budget this year or next but we will still move forward believe me

#1 = usable

 

#2 = rubbbish, uses loads of electricity and will be slow as heck on Win7 with 1GB ram. Avoid.

 

#3 = usable but could do with more ram

Depends what they're needed for. We use #1 for presentations and digital signage, p4's are largely useless.

I feel bad now for throwing out all our core 2 duos or i5 upgrade when other people have worse machines still running

 

i5's I'd have gladly taken off your hands if you were binning them xD

Head to the landfill and get me one back!
