stelmo Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 When I started here there were a huge pile of RM Nimbus base units in store. For what reason I have no idea as they were only collecting dust their network having been dismantled years before. Are they still there!?
gady Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Makes me wonder what this thread would look like in say 20 years... Found an iPad tucked away in a cupboard the other day. Still running iOS 7!! You know the ones where you had to touch to type... None of this thought activated typing. Ahh the good old days! Found an old 4k monitor tucked away... to think they were stuck with 3840 x 2160 pixels and 2 dimensions! And only visible with eyesight no direct brain induction!

BKGarry Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 After glueing the mouse balls in having to go around and unscrew the mouse and clear the scuzz off the wheels with a small screwdriver. I was happier when they stopped optical mice having the read light as students at my previous place used to hold them up to one and others eyes for fun. I recently stumbled on one of our old 2004 NS optimum servers in a DT cupboard they had been using to show 'advanced' components. It made me chuckle. 1

We still have students who play tricks on us with the optical mice! They push a pen up the optical part which pushes the red LED up off the circuit board! It's only when you take them apart you see what's happened and have to push it back down again to make it work again!

One of my first support calls that I dealt with was a student who'd pritt-sticked the bottom of an optical mouse. They'd done it fairly well, scraping away the excess so that you wouldn't notice anything different about it. By the time it got to our office, the glue had set rock solid! Good times....
