Nothing will ever beat my Amiga 500/1200. Happy days with SWOS/Civiliazation/settlers and a load of classic games. Still play them now - mainly emulated but still have. Bunch of Amigas.

 

The tech of the Amiga hardware was beyond it time and some features of the OS have only (relatively) recently been matched IMO.

I loved SWOS and Settlers on my A500 (I had the 1mb ram upgrade) I still much prefer colonisation to civ1 on the amiga so much so that I'm regularly playing free col moat weeks to this day.

Still got my working 48k. I spent HOURS on that. I used to write programs to display various national flags.

 

I think i must have been quite clever at one bit! Girls and alcohol probably killed that lol

I think some of the comments on this thread are spot on after catching up, I was thinking, for me it was the Megadrive I owned which was the best console for years, I still play the games now on an emulator too, I only jumped on the playstation bandwagon in about 1999 and Tekken2 was pretty much my fave game there.

I was another minidisc person, got a portable MD recorder/player, cost over £200 at the time, also owned a MD HiFi and a MD car stereo, was gutted when my MD stereo was stolen in 2007 when my car was broken in to, doubt the thief could sell the stereo for much though, it was old tech by then.

 

I do remember owning a Nokia 7110, was one of my favourite phones, loved the press the button to slide down the front panel to reveal the keypad. Also bought a 8110 off ebay once as well to see if I could some how make it flip down like it did in the Matrix, never got it working though.

I never caught on with minidisc, I was however in sales when they hit the ground so to speak. Massively popular, certainly with the small-time DJs. Best sellers were easily the sony MD players and recorders (hifi separates type things). I think I was already too far ahead of myself with mp3/vqf to worry about what should have already been old technology at that point although the only mp3 players were ludicrously expensive or held less tracks than the typical MD player.

My ex nagged me into taking away the monitor and all the other bits from out of her loft, but neither of us can find the actual ST box anywhere. I suspect it's buried under the second layer of loft insulation. I really want to find it.

The best without a doubt was an ATI 9500 non pro edition that could be unlocked into a full 9700 pro, that 9700 pro was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay before its time in terms of performance. Awesome card that was.

Sony NW-HD5 20GB mp3 player - 40 hour battery and its was removable so you could take a spare if needed. If was price comparable to the 8G iPod at the time and was so far ahead in specs.

 

But not shiney enough and sank

 

Either that or the Mega Drive as others have already said.
