Call me impatient but i hate that 0.5 second loading circle between tabs I'm curious, can you tell how many people are using each theme? Might not be worth the effort if there's very few of us using the no tabs option. 1

Might not be worth the effort if there's very few of us using the no tabs option. Just so you know thats not an artificial delay, its literally a delay due to page processing for the forums list in the tabs as that is refreshed each time you load rather than cached. Currently the code I have allows for both tabbed and untabbed (this excludes making the styles/themes) but because of this I can't boost the speed of page processing of /forums/ as non tabbed needs to run code there too for it to work. If I find a way around this or remove the non tabbed code technically speaking the page /forums/ will load faster which means the total page loading time for non tabbed/tabbed is much the same php wise. I know of several people who like non tabbed but I think in general tabbed is more popular due to the reduced scrolling but feedback would be welcome. We are looking at several options for moving away from vbulletin which should result in faster page processing everywhere but moving away from vbulletin is a bit of a nightmare. TheScarfedOne Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Purple @Little-Miss where are you??!! The tabs on the purple do something really wierd, or its my browser being funky. Hows the vbulletin change looking ZH?

Might not be worth the effort if there's very few of us using the no tabs option. Just to follow up, I am about to push a code change to fix half the problem in the next few minutes. I realised I could work around it and the processing of /forums/ for logged in users will drop from 0.50-0.55s to 0.07-0.10s when using tabbed skins so quite a boost . The tab loading has not been boosted yet but you have inspired a few workarounds for that too. Non tabbed will always be pretty standard for page processing and a little slower than tabbed if I get the tweaks finished hopefully. EDIT: Change live! Edited January 17, 2014 by ZeroHour 1

ZeroHour Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) You know it's friday evening right? Take a break! Hehe, most of the site work is done between 00:00 - 04:00 by me. I have just finished off some code to remove the bottleknecks. Based on my connection loading /forums/ then the default tab has about 0.780s processing total where as the non tabbed takes about 0.890s so strictly speaking its faster in raw php terms as now the less forums shown in the tab the less processing. Before forums were disabled but regardless of tab php processing time was the same. Code is going live in the next 10 mins after I finish testing, thanks for the inspiration Edited January 17, 2014 by ZeroHour
