I've been very busy on my running in the last few weeks.....I've now completed C25K!! (slightly disappointed, I wanted to see fireworks come out of my phone or something, but not to be)....absolutely thrilled to have actually done the whole program :-) I've been doing 3 runs a week, with two shorter runs and one longer run....last night I ran my first 10k!! Hit 10k at 59 minutes and 45 seconds, which I was ecstatic at :-) I can't wait for the Manchester 10k now in a few weeks, I know I can run the whole thing and I know I can run it in under an hour :-)

Aldi are doing their running gear from the 16th April, also includes heart rate and BP monitors as well as an activity tracker.

May have to take a visit, nothing seems to get me to start running like forcing myself to buy stuff, then making sure i get my money's worth!

Now done my third park run...set another new pb of 27 minutes 48 seconds :-)

Unfortunately I now seem to have picked up an injury...very very tight left hamstring. Hurts to run :-( Hoping a bit of time off will help, but the Manchester 10k is a week on Sunday...so a bit worried now :-(

I wouldn't just "hope" if I were you. Go to a physio if you can afford it - even one visit will give you some info and advice on how to deal with it. You don't want to tear a hamstring :(

Thanks @witch I'm going to try and see a physio (I've just been told that I haven't broken my neck following an incident, but done some muscular damage so need physio on that) so I'll try and get both looked at at the same time

Always amazes (and depresses) me at how people seem to be so much quicker than me at running! I've been running on and off for a few years now and never cracked the 30min mark for 5k. Perhaps they just have a higher pain tolerance than me! That being said despite being relatively slow I seem to be able to run further at a slower pace. When I'm fully fit I'll happily run 10k 3 times a week with no issues. Guess some people are just built differently.

I have a pb that is unexplainably higher than any of my other park runs, it's bizarre.

@Sam_Brown, have you done any speed work? Fartlek, sprint intervals etc? I found those made all the difference to me - just practising running fast, even for short stretches, so that I know how fast I can go when I need to pull it out of the bag. Especially how fast I can go at the end of a run when I am knackered!

Nothing wrong with covering long distances at a slower pace though. Some people can just naturally run fast but not everyone. If you are happy doing what you're doing then no need to change it :)

completed the Commonweal 5mile (HOME - Commonweal 5) run at Commonweal School in Swindon on Sunday. 2nd time I've done this run. 2 nasty uphill parts at the end.

First 3 miles were all under 9minutes a mile which is faster than I intended. Total time 45mins 30seconds (49:05 last year). Joint 125th with my running buddy (we both started on the same Couch to 5K course in May 2013). Very nice t-shirt after this event.

First open water swimming session completed at Cotswold Water Park on Saturday. Very different type of swimming from pool swimming. Nowhere near as cold or as scary as I thought it might be.

Going to test myself with a very short run tonight, see how I get on, done a couple of relatively pacey walks this since Friday with no ill effects.

Well, the run itself was fine....for 13 minutes.

just a shame i realised i lost my key about half way through my run, then having to retrace my steps (without my glasses) home, still nothing, walking up to the OH's parents house, grabbed their key for the house, got driven back down to mine, grabbed glasses and phone, then walked up and down the whole route i had run. all in all i was out of the house for about an hour and 45 minutes.

Hope you found your key in the end!

I have one of these for running, surprisingly spacious, plenty of room for a phone, headphones, bit of cash, key and my Park Run barcode and still not too bulky when you're running :-)

Wiggle | Nike Expandable Running Lean Waistpack - SU15 | Waist Bags

I went out and did 8.2km last night....need to be running more frequently than once a week though, particularly if I'm serious about doing a half marathon next March!!
