tj2419 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 (edited) Hi Trying to get a spare screen for an RM 310 laptop. RM say they have discontinued the parts on their website despite the laptop only being 18 months old. Have my account manager looking into obtaining one for us. I was wondering if this was possibly linked to their stopping their own hardware? Has anyone else had issues getting spare parts from RM? Anyone know where we can get RM compatible LCD Screens? Cheers Edited January 7, 2014 by tj2419 Correction
plexer Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I expect it is. RM compatible monitors? for what? Ben
tj2419 Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 Sorry not monitors LCD screens for a RM Notebook 310. It's a standard 15.4 size but didn't know if the sockets might be different on them.
plexer Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 If you take one apart and get the actual part number from it then you should be able to find replacements. Ben 1
mrwobbly Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 As above. Most RM laptops are just rebadged Clevo laptops. Try ringing LCD Kings 0845 4597165 with the part number from the back of the screen. 1
Chrisbf1 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Have always found Accupart really good and very helpful 1
rad Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Do you have a picture of the RM laptop you can link to? Might be able to help
PeterW Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 If it is indeed 18 months old it should be 15.6" 40 pin led backlit which is pretty standard these days, you should be paying about £40 for these. As Ben pointed out take the panel out and have a look at the manufacturer part number and find something compatible. It looks like the notebook is a Clevo W255HU so it should be a standard 15.6" LED backlit panel. 1
nickbro Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 We had a broken screen for one of these, laptop was brought April 2012. The screen is: LG Phillips 15.6" LED HD LP156WH4(TL)(B1) Matte LAPTOP SCREEN is what you need I took the rubber stoppers in the corners off, undid those screws, the plastic case can be prised off, undo the 4 screws holding the screen in place and it will come away. Make sure to be careful with the cable for the camera. Reverse to fit. We brought one of these: NEW LG Phillips 15.6" LED HD LP156WH4(TL)(B1) Matte LAPTOP SCREEN A- GRADE | eBay, it had a dead pixel which wasn't visible and was £20 cheaper at the time. (£29 exc VAT). 1

Chris_ Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 We've had issues getting parts for RM computers that are only just out of warranty also. RM couldn't sell us parts, but they have parts for warranty repairs. Our account manager managed to get us extended warranties so we could then get a warranty repair.
dry Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 RM are now terrible for buying spares.... We had two incidents within a week where the hinges needed replacing on two 310s. The first incident, we called up and they sent the parts out, no problem. The second, we requested the parts online via support (made it clear we'd pay for them)... but they came back with 'it is impossible to send the parts out to you, but you can send us the laptop and pay us £55 to fit them for you'. Absolutely bonkers, given they sent the SAME parts out a week prior.
