There is no adverse yaw on throttle or pitch movements. Pitch, roll and yaw are controlled by varying the power to individual motors, whereas a single main rotor you have complicated linkage from a thrust ring (which varies the angle of the blades) to two servos and you may have quite a complex mechanical set-up for the tail rotor. Quads are mechanically simpler - easier and more forgiving to set-up, and generally easier to learn to fly.

hallb15 Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 I LOVE my Hubsan X4. They're cheap on ebuyer now so it doesn't matter if you smash it up when experimenting how much 'load' it can carry.

Worried I won't be able to fly it now and smash it up! It will depend on the type. The contra rotating prop types are easier to fly - probably on a par with a quad. A full 3d capable collective pitch Heli would be a mistake for a beginner. A chopper is more satisfying to master, IMO. In the beginning, you will crash and probably break bits whatever you try!

JAB1a Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 I still don't see it whats the difference in a quadcopter to a rc helicopter apart from two more additional propellers I believe the standard Hubsan X4 can lift (to a hover) 20g of extra load but at that limit you will loose height trying to travel in any direction. The heli's with counter rotating props are a little bit harder to learn compared to a well setup Quad due to it naturally wanting to twist (yaw) at start up and throttle increase etc, Good thing about Heli's is that if the battery gets low then you tend to start loosing height but are cushioned by auto-rotaion, a quad will just stop and plumet or accelerate to the ground Anything RC that can fly in my book is great fun be it a Heli, Bi, Tri, Quad, Hex, Octo, Dodeca, Wings, planes etc

I would suggest a HPI Savage X, they are almost bullet proof and have such reliable IC engines in them, I still have my old Savage X 4.1 and enjoy a good bashing every so often. You can get bags of spare parts off ebay as cheap as chips. I think companies can post fuel to you but they have to use a delivery company who allows it in their rules... someone like DHL or similar might.
