Hello, all..

I'm wondering if some kind souls within a School environment can test a few sites for me, please?

One of the staff here raised a support call asking to get access to a couple of websites:

http://www.graphicalhouse.co.uk

http://www.derekwelsh.co.uk

It works at home.

It works on a phone.

However from our Corporate or Education PCs, it shows up a simple "Not Found". Not a block. Our Infra guys can't see what's causing it.

And then there's this one:

EBSCOhost Login

Do this on a home PC or a smartphone - it works, you get a login box.

Do it from an Education/Corp PC, you get:

We are unable to validate your login credentials. The URL you are using may contain an error or the group and profile you are trying to access may no longer exist. Please contact your institution for assistance. [Authentication Error Code 104]

We haven't put any login credentials in :)

My only theory for that last one is that it sees the IP range of our local authority, and they're not allowed on?? So I'd be interested to see how other authorities get on.

Any suggestions/replies gratefully appreciated.

Cheers,

Gerard

How very odd!

It appears to be the 3rd website works for everyone but us, while it's a mixed bag for the first 2.

Could you tell me (unless you'd prefer not to) which firewall and web filtering you use? Perhaps there's some common link there.

We're on Trend and WebSense, if that gets the ball rolling?

Thanks to all for taking the time to reply to this. It's all very curious!!

Cheers,

Gerard

Firewall: Windows 7 and provision by ISP

Web filtering: As provided by HGfl/Updata [ironPort I think?]

Two not working via ISA server (firewall only, no content filtering). I get the first two fine on an unfiltered external connection. I say fine but on the first site the pictures blank when the mouse hovers over them.

Thanks, folks..

I've sent an email to the tech support of the ebsco one, and I'll leave our Infra guys to ponder on the first 2.

Cheers,

Gerard
