Average UK household has six internet-connected devices -Misco.co.uk

 

Our house:

 

My laptop, netbook, phone

Wife's netbook, phone,

Son's laptop, phone, tablet, freeview box, games console

Our freeview box.

 

Total 11. (3.66 per occupant)

I suspect that this means only the router is connected to the internet, the other devices go via the router. Not sure I agree, the M6 doesn't go to London but it's still connected via the M1.

Virgin media super hub is connected to

a)Laptop (via Ethernet) that plugs in to hifi system

b)Dad's laptop (via wifi)

c)My nexus 7 (When it is working!)

d)My Phone (via wifi)

e)My Dad's phone (via wifi)

f)Blu Ray player

 

The virgin media hub also has a powerline connected to it which connects to:

a)Printer/Scanner (Stupid Kodak office hero thing)

b)A switch in the "Data" room (Spare Bedroom). The switch has a WD MyBookLive and a Netgear Readynas v2. (They mirror the music to each other every night.)

c)A switch in my room which is connected to "Colossus" (My dell xps 8500) and my two Raspberry Pi's (Yep, RS made a mistake and sent me two!)

What router did you get?

I have only had 4 Routers in 10+ Years.

 

Dabs Value Connexant - Which I got of a m8 , it was fine and solid ( no wifi ) for 6+ years.

Replaced that with a vastly over spec Cisco 1841 with ADSL Wic ( no wifi )

The a Cisco 877W Again vastly over spec wich actualy caused an issue for using upnp

 

So replaced that with A DrayTek 2830N. Which can't be faulted as it's still over spec for home use.
