Stone Servers

Does anyone else use Servers built by Stone Computers? If so what are your experiences with them? what is the support like? Compared to a very similar spec HP DL380, the Stone quote is just over £2k cheaper!

We had a new one from Stone last year, very pleased with it and the 5 Year Onsite warranty is a bonus. Our post sales service is always excellent with them.

90% of our servers were from Stone and they have always been good value and reliable. When we have had a few minor issues the support has been excellent even when the server has been out of warrenty

I forgot to add I,m looking at another for one of my other schools, so big thumbs up for Stone. Had great hardware from them all round.

Had one from them at my last school. It was a decent little server based around Intel parts so compatibility wasn't an issue.

 

Just looking at potentially getting a couple more now.

What are they like in terms of ease of dissasembly?

 

Always used Dell and HP personaly, other stuff seemed to be built arround off the shelf parts.. Is stone different..

Ditto the good experience and excellent support. Have bought Stone servers almost exclusively for the past six years. I have gone with Viglen more recently due to price.

 

Like RM, Viglen etc, Stone supply Intel Server Systems. I haven't had to completely strip one, but replacing RAM, HDDs, fans is simple enough.

Have you added additional HDD's to them. We are quickly running out of space on ours.

 

But dont know what the best approach will be.

We've added additional hard drives to our servers. Most of ours were spec'd either as SAS, but we do have a few with normal SATA for the lower loads. Just a case of get the new drives, slap them in and setup a new raid entry for them.

had several rack and pedestal boxes from them one of the DC's is circa 5 years old and still going.

no niggles and work straight from the box. for some of the specs the pricing is very good compared to Dell/HP
