CHR1S Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 New Server and VAMT 3 install. Keys added, and activated online (no KMS yet, just MAK) I can install both Win7 and Office14 MAK keys but they both fail with a timeout on activation. Any ideas why this would be?
CHR1S Posted September 23, 2013 Author Posted September 23, 2013 Seems after registering the VAMT PS tools I can now proxy activate, normal activation still times out.
GeekyGav Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Hi Chris, Just wondered what you did to resolve this? Not quite sure what you mean by registering the VAMT PS tools? Have exactly the same problem here. Built a new 2012 server with VAMT 3. Was working perfectly until last week and now can only install product keys. Can't activate for some reason. Gav
cullingsh Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 This rings a bell somewhere - had the same on one of my sites, but can't think what I did to resolve it. Have you checked the machine where VAMT is installed has proxy settings configured correctly? That's all I can think we have problems with initially.
GeekyGav Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Hi, Yes, I've checked the proxy settings in IE and can browse the web without any problems. Got a NIC in each domain and have tested both proxy addresses just to be sure. Strange thing is... Can't refresh product key data either. Get the same timeout message. Sounds like an internet related issue. Weird!
cullingsh Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Sounds the same as what we had. Can't find any notes from the time now though!
Muz Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 You will need to allow remote aceess to the WMI consoles of the machines you're trying to manage activation for - this can be done through group policy. Not 100% sure this the solution but when I set up a KMS host I allowed KMS traffic out of my KMS host and used group policy to add a 'backdoor' which allowed me to manage activation on those machines.
gsk Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I always just proxy activate. It does the job. Are there any downsides to this?
