I managed to acquire one of the above for £20, not a fan of Netgear but a 24 port gig switch for home I'm not complaining.

 

This is a L2 managed switch, I have finally managed to reset it (had to get a console cable etc) now have it factory defaults, latest firmware and on a static IP address, anything else I should configure or will I be ok as is?

ntp and ssh would be useful - the former for accurate log timestamps and the latter because the webui isn't great - but if you're just using it to shunt packets around the house nothing else comes to mind.

Already got SSH sorted, as regards to NTP could not find the setting to set this, will take a look again tonight, was late on last night when I was looking at it.
