Recommend me an A3 Colour Laser Printer

We have a new person in charge of creating marketing materials and displays around the school. I have been asked to price up an A3 Colour printer for this person to use.

 

Any recommendations? It needs to be networked and have decent priced toner. Print quality obviously needs to be very good for use in displays.

Look at the Oki,s have good quality toners are cheaper as they have seperate imaging drums/toner etc for each colour so this helps.

Beware the toner consumption... We have about a dozen of the c301/c321 a4 colour printers, and a few others and they are all super thirsty. We've improved it by about 30% by setting heavy toner save in printing defaults.

 

Le Edit. My friend Charlotte at Oki has suggested the C831 as it has much better density control than the 822 so you can throttle the toner usage.

I second a leased colour multi function machine. Print, scan, photocopy and the maintenance is somebody else's problem.

No doubts about it a small MFD which is A3 compatible would be best option and cheaper to run.

We have an Oki ES8460 MFD on lease (amongst many other printers) that does a decent job, built like a tank as well.

Agreed, having had the A3 colour laser this is the much better solution to the issue they are a pain and you will want top quality colour so will never please marketing types with anything sensibly priced.

Lease a decent A3 format multifunction photocopier. If the person is serious about their displays and whatnot you should also look at having things sent off to be printed professionally. Often it works out cheaper.

What kind of price is it for leasing an A3? If Im looking at around £1000 to buy is it more cost effective to lease?

Talk to whoever you lease your photocopiers from as you would probably replace a photocopier with it
