Sorry to hijack this thread but we just signed up to AR and now the admin process has been passed to me for importing users.

From what i gather this is quite a manual task, exporting from SIMS and creating a csv and uploading it.

Does anyone have any SIMS reports they would like to share?

Also anyone using this in conjunction with Eclipse?

We have it as well and the importing stuff came to me also. Ended up splicing together sims reports to get all the information they needed (not helped that the asked for different information at different stages).

Would be very interested if someone has a report setup for next year!

We use it here and I made the mistake of showing interest in it as I'm an avid reader myself and thought it a great idea to encourage reading. Although I was very happy to import the users (which I'll come to), all the admin work for it, which is quite a lot of work, ended up looking like it was going to become my responsibility. Fortunately I managed to offload some of it, so now 'just' add new users, import users and promote users at the start of the year, print off password labels, print off ZPD levels every term for each student, reset passwords when forgotten, unlock user accounts when students locked out and deal with day-to-day problems, like 'I clicked on the wrong test and I need to cancel out'. Somehow, despite not attending the full days training, but a dozen other staff did, I'm the AR expert...?

When it came to importing users, I wanted students to have the same username as their school network username, so had no choice, but to export various reports into excel and merge the dataset together.

We have both Accelerated Reader and Eclipse Library system. I have a couple of SIMS reports if anyone wants them but they may not suit you as you may have different courses set up. There is still a bit of messing around in Excel to be done once the data is exported from SIMS but it isn't particularly arduous. We have had the system since last summer and I find it very easy to use. It is pretty robust and works well but the reporting is a bit limited and the Star bit and the AR bit seem a bit too separated to me.

I would definitely appreciate some reports even if I have to change them. Gives me a start. What is involved with Eclipse to set this up? I am yet to tackle this and have no info currently of what is involved.

PM me your email address and I will send the reports to you. There are a couple of ways that Eclipse gets involved. Firstly you can export those parts of your library inventory that you want to be involved in your reading scheme and upload them to the AR BookGuide (yet another website). You can then print off labels that your librarian can stick into the books to show quiz number, points, ZPD range etc. you can also import to Eclipse the quiz data so that students can view it via the library system.
