Laptops are battery powered so they do not come under the requirements for PAT testing, only the chargers.

Don't delete the user, delete the contents of the Primary box under Card/Identity Numbers
-
Yes, just delete the number of the card from the user’s details under ‘Other Details’, you can then issue it out to another user to register.

The offer is not unreasonable but beware. If Mr Cash Buyer has offers in on other properties he may try to play you off against each other and drop his offer just prior to exchange. you are in the fortunate position of not having a chain and therefore can tell him where to go if he tries it.

I have manually installed the graphics driver, it had not installed the correct driver during the build. Problem sorted.

We have some new Stone NT310 laptops that have been built to Windows 7 64bit on a CC4 network. They will only attach and display to a projector if they are connected (via VGA cable) and then booted up, not when attached if already on. The FN-F7 and Windows+P key combos do not seem to work so I can’t change to any other external display and there are no options in the display properties to do this either. All drivers installed are the ones suggested on the Stone website and changing the screen resolution does not make any difference. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is happening? Regards

Our kids have found that one too.

Pearson onscreen platform installation woes
LazyFanatic replied to IT_Man_Dan's topic in Educational Software
We have run this for the first time this year and have had very few problems. The odd 'loss of focus' which is sorted by the invigilators. One computer problem that we just moved the student to another computer (we always have a spare in the room). The Administrator is run on a classroom teacher's computer and the teacher downloads the candidates and sets up the exam. Myself and the teachers set up the computers to the login screen before the exam and it works very well. I would not have contemplated running this from laptops though tbh. -
Last Friday, after having read this thread during the day, I was crossing a roundabout to go straight on having taken the right-hand lane (allowed by the arrows on the road). With the always-take-the –left-lane rule in my head and with a driver on my right who also appeared to be going straight on I proceeded cautiously to the exit (two lanes). Which was fortunate really because the numpty on my left decided to turn right on the roundabout! I managed to avoid hitting the idiot but I can honestly say that if I had not read this thread I would have proceeded in my usual boy-racer style and there would have been an accident.

Small Basic on a RM CC4 network
LazyFanatic replied to TMBS's topic in Network and Classroom Management
There is a CC4 package blueprint for VirtualBox. It is not free but I think it only cost about £50. -
I'd love to know how to do that. I have reset the counter that is found on the projector menu and that doesn't fix it. What is the 'little trick'?

We have Hitachi projectors and they have been trouble free except the Lamps seem to have a built in life expectancy. Lamps that are absolutely fine and bright will cause the projector to turn itself off with a lamp warning. I believe this is something built into the lamp itself and is only rectified by purchasing a new one. It is annoying because we have some ancient Sanyo projectors that just keep on going with lamps that are 5 years old and we only change them when we can no longer see the projected image but the Hitachi's need changing much more often and before the image quality is degraded.

PM me your email address and I will send the reports to you. There are a couple of ways that Eclipse gets involved. Firstly you can export those parts of your library inventory that you want to be involved in your reading scheme and upload them to the AR BookGuide (yet another website). You can then print off labels that your librarian can stick into the books to show quiz number, points, ZPD range etc. you can also import to Eclipse the quiz data so that students can view it via the library system.

We have both Accelerated Reader and Eclipse Library system. I have a couple of SIMS reports if anyone wants them but they may not suit you as you may have different courses set up. There is still a bit of messing around in Excel to be done once the data is exported from SIMS but it isn't particularly arduous. We have had the system since last summer and I find it very easy to use. It is pretty robust and works well but the reporting is a bit limited and the Star bit and the AR bit seem a bit too separated to me.

RM CC4 - Create new package option is grey out
LazyFanatic replied to Duranis's topic in Network and Classroom Management
We generally create the package on a 'clean' computer (minimal package installation) and import it in via the management console . Might this be what you did previously? [edit]Whoops. just seen that someone else has answered it. -
Only if you add some veggies

Will be beautiful and cost four times as much as similar non-Apple cars. It won't break down very often but will cost a small fortune to fix when it does.

We are currently leasing 25 laptops from Ergo (since September) and I have to say that I am not impressed, either with the hardware, (3 warranty call-outs in the first few weeks of having said laptops, all with the same issue) or their customer service, which I find to be absolutely appalling. When we called the engineer out last time (call out No.4) they tried to convince us we had a return to base warranty on the laptops and not an onsite warranty. We have now been waiting over two weeks for a quote to repair one of the laptops, although a job for this laptop was first raised before Christmas. I would not recommend using this company to anyone.

Sorry if I am stating the obvious, but when one creates a project and imports video footage to WLMM it doesn't actually bring the video in it just references the existing clip. So, until the project is completed and a WMV file is created the project and the video clips must both exist in the same place that they were when the project was created.

I am no sql expert but it appears to me as though you have managed to get some illegal characters into a field on your database. Did you import your new students via csv? did the problems start to happen after the import? If you did import the data do you still have the csv, if so have a look at the data, I am guessing that there is something in (probably) the barcode field that is not an integer.

Hi, What error message do you get if you run Microlib from the server and try to insert a new borrower?

How long have you been working in IT? 25+ years What other jobs / roles have you done previously? I started out as a clerk, moved onto an accounting trainee scheme then moved into IT. I worked first for a large manufacturing company who used an IBM mainframe then moved onto PCs. I was contractor/consultant in the city for a while then had children. I took a few years out after my second child was born as the city is not child friendly. I then got this job in a school. How many interviews did it take to get your first job in IT? I have got every job I have applied for. Have you ever felt that being female is a help or a hindrance to gaining a job in IT? I never found it either. If you were considering IT (or other engineering / programming careers) whilst at school what support did you receive? When I was at school I wanted to be a long-distance lorry driver, my careers advisor suggested I be a secretary! It was not an enlightened school and those where not enlightened times. At this school there are two of us IT techies and we are both female. Neither of us is ‘girlie’ but we are still feminine. I have never really considered that my gender has anything to do with my ability to do a job. I happen to have the right mindset for IT, I like to think that I am ok at it despite not having had any formal training.

It was an Intel board (DQ35JO) and it will be replaced with an ASUS.
