Morning all,

 

I've recently decided that my basic wireless logitch jobby isn't really suited for playing Battlefield 3 and my other FPS games. I'm looking, therefore, for a keyboard and mouse set - ideally Logitech or Razer (if I was going to push the boat out) for FPSs. Mouse I'd like two normal buttons, scroll wheel and then maybe three or four in the side. Not particularly fussed about weights or massive DPI settings (unless you can convince me otherwise). Keyboard-wise something with mechnaical keys, and probably a dozen function keys. And driver software that doesn't suck would also be nice...

I am a huge fan of emprex equipment, it has lasted me a very long time (6 years almost, and still going strong!)

 

Emprex:News/Media Center/HDD Enclosure/BT Download/LCD TV/LCD Monitor/Webcam/Keyboard < the keypad on the left can be moved left/right to suit your hand, so it is comfortable, the keys also light up good for playing in the dark, and you can have various settings on the keyboard for office/gaming etc

Why would she be looking at the keyboard?

 

So she can find things like the @ symbol, she can't touch type very well either. (my Black Widow is an International layout)

I have a mouse from Raptr that I bought a few years ago which was only 20 quid but served me well and the DPI switch is only just starting to go wrong. And an OEM Dell keyboard with mechanical keys that has survived even more years of abuse to the point WASD has worn away but still going strong. :)

I currently use a RAT3 (though I need to upgrade to a 7. Or maybe a 9. xP) and a Logitech G15. Both work flawlessly. Very responsive and appealing to the eye, plus the built-in sensitivity switcher on the mouse is a wonderful function.

I also have the RAT3! Absolutely great mouse, really fits nice in your hand and everything is where it should be with easy access. The thumb rest is very neat too.. but all this is just from the old version, you've got the 7 and 9 which are far more superior so go with one of the latter two :)

You're probably looking for something fancier, but I tell you what, I got this mouse a couple of weeks ago at home to replace an MS mouse that was double-clicking on a single click (omg so annoying) and for £9 it is superb: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-GM-M6800-M6880-Laser-Mouse/dp/B002050WSS

 

5 buttons, comfortable shape, DPI-switch. I bought another one for work after a week of using it. Yes, there are better mice out there, but not if you want change from £10.

 

(I'm not a big FPS player, mind)

Gaming peripherals are so stupidly overpriced it's unreal. That said there are minor differences on some products, Logitech G500 is a good mouse at £25-30, you're a mug if you pay anything more than that for a mouse.

I totally agree for the most of the case but some are trully worth their money. You can't neglete that.

 

Keyboards i can understand somewhat, mice and headphones though i can't understand why anyone would want to piddle their money away. It's like buying apple devices, you pay for the "gaming" part and brand names on the devices rather than the device itself, most of the features the fanciest ones come with are utterly useless too. I won't even get started on the sheer **** take of "gaming headset" prices, utter tack they all are!

 

Two thumb buttons for forward and back, maybe a sensitivity control, scroll wheel that goes forwards/backwards and side to side and an accurate laser....what more do you really need from a mouse? All that comes for less than £30! Some of the ones for £90 include no additional benefits apart from the mouse having a few flashy lights and a ridiculous DPI that you don't need for anything. I say all that having played FPS games at a competitive level in money based tournaments, you just don't need it! (a part of my past I'm not particularly proud of, a huge waste of my teenage years!)

Went for Razer BlackWidow and Razer Deathadder in the end. It's made quite a difference for me, especially in BF3. Two buttons on the mouse I've mapped to "prone" and "knife" so if I'm getting shot at I can tap it and lie straight down, or if I run into someone I can tap the button and get a knife kill instead of reaching for the buttons needed.
