featured_spectre Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 In that list...Danny Dyer? Seriously? What the hell? He would go around headbutting the bad guys and pretend to be a hardman! Colin Salmon has agreed to do Season 2 of Arrow and signed up for season 3 if it got renewed that far, so he is out of the equation Rowan Atkinson would be a good one, as would Lenny Henry. Out of all of the others, Chewetel Ejiofor would be my choice
6Foot2 Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Spoiler [?] Link: The Independent [ireland] is reporting that the role has been offered and the BBC are waiting for a reply [Report is unconfirmed at the moment] From The Independent's report: ...When he was asked about rumours linking him with the Doctor Who role in April, he admitted that he had never watched the programme. “I think I’m being used as a decoy on that front,” he said. “It’s the first I’ve heard.”...
Rawns Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Not long to go! We only have to wait until Sunday to see who the next Doctor is! BBC News - New Doctor Who star to be unveiled
Fleetwood Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Exciting times. I just hope we don't get the rinse & repeat reaction of all the fans of "Oh he'll be rubbish!" - people thought DT was going to be crap when he was announced - turned out to make a huge impact and everybody misses him, people thought MS was going to be SEVERELY crap when he was announced, turned out to make a huge impact yet again and everybody is sad that he's leaving. I can't process the logic of slating an actor doing a role before the first episode is even broadcasted, but maybe that's me. So as long as those whiners bugger off during the announcement then I'll be happy! Who do we reckon it'll be then?
6Foot2 Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Now The Independent are reporting that Peter Capaldi is favourite to land the role: Link: Spin Doctor Who? Peter Capaldi remains favourite to replace Matt Smith ahead of Sunday's announcement - News - TV & Radio - The Independent http://blogs.coventrytelegraph.net/passtheremote/peter%20capaldi.jpg
FishCustard Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Capaldi could work, although I think he'd fit better as the Master or a Sherlock Holmes-type character than the Doctor. Then again, I believe the bookies and papers were totally wrong about Matt's appointment, so who knows? (hehe... 'Who' knows? Geddit? )
Trapper Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Peter Capaldi? No f'ing chance! Seriously can you imagine the BBC giving Capaldi Dr Who? When all the kiddie winks go on YouTube to look at Dr Who's other roles?!
Trapper Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Like this: "...what we would call violent sexual imagery..." Sadly it just wouldn't be proper.
Arthur Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Peter Capaldi? No f'ing chance! Malcolm likes sci-fi. Surely that counts for something? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5iRmPBve80
6Foot2 Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Peter Capaldi? No f'ing chance! Seriously can you imagine the BBC giving Capaldi Dr Who?... Peter Capaldi has already appeared in Doctor Who: The Fires of Pompeii [which also featured an early appearance by Karen Gillan as a soothsayer]
sparkeh Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 Heh, a Malcolm Tucker style Dr Who would be amusing. "I'm Dr. $#£&%£ Who you £%$&*^$ $$£%"
Trapper Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Peter Capaldi has already appeared in Doctor Who: The Fires of Pompeii [which also featured an early appearance by Karen Gillan as a soothsayer] But not as THE Doctor. That's the issue kids map their childhoods by their first Dr Who, and sadly for Capaldi who is a fine actor the Malcolm Tucker aura is just too much for what is the biggest kids show in the country.
localzuk Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Not sure how good it'll be to keep the younger audience interested - all the Doctor's of the 'reboot' have been young and somewhat aimed at the teen market. We'll see!
6Foot2 Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Hmmn he's soooo old... Do you mind? 55 isn't old [i say this as a 51 year old!]
plexer Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Yeah but you're not playing Dr Who. Perhaps it's because he'll be the last one and die? Ben

6Foot2 Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Looking at Peter Capaldi's IMBD page: http://i.snag.gy/TMQ7c.jpg
Geoff Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 As long as he gets lines like he did in The Loop, this'll be awesome. "Listen to me, you f**king flying trash bins. If you Daleks ever f**king threaten Earth again, I'll take those f**king toilet plungers of yours and f**king shove them up your f**king tin-can arses!" Then he turns around and barks, "Well, go on then, Clara, for f**k's sake! Back in the f**king TARDIS!" 2
Trapper Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Of course it's fcking bigger on the fcking inside you fckwit, now get the fck in or fck the fck off. Forever the Malcolm Tucker Doctor! 1
witch Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I think he will be good, although I take the point about children looking for his previous work online! He is a very good actor and I am sure that he will relish the challenge. It looks like he will be allowed to be Scottish too, unlike David Tennant. I'm not sure the age of the doctor matters and I really don't think children will notice as long as the character isn't "old" in the way he behaves.
Rawns Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 (edited) Peter Capaldi? No f'ing chance! Seriously can you imagine the BBC giving Capaldi Dr Who? When all the kiddie winks go on YouTube to look at Dr Who's other roles?! Looks like the BBC gave Capaldi Doctor Who! in world war Z, he played "W.H.O Doctor". Coincedence? Rawns Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Ignore the above post. Posted it yesterday via the App but it showed none of the previous posts since after the announcement!
