calwyn Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Well, got v9.2 on this morning and it all looks great, thanks for all the hard work. I have however got just a tiny little issue...... the new NOTES feature, when this gets emailed.... all of the spaces in the text are displayed as %20. Is there something I can edit to fix this ?
nickbro Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 New feature for v9.3 due out soon - booking system - users will not be able to book a resource if the lesson end time has past, or if allowance="x" is set on the resource after x minutes before, or after, the lesson start. So in the above pic, blue is not available to be booked for anyone, even admins, and red is not bookable (laptops only). The green line is where the system things it is (during the lesson). This was a debug shot, and had the time set back 12 hours 1
calwyn Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 In the booking system, how about different colours for booked, available, charging etc... straight out of the box ?
mattgrimley Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Idea: A system for monitoring the number of "unread" helpdesk tickets assigned to a user. I.E. When a ticket is submitted, it remains BOLD and "unread" until it is opened at which point it is no longer bold and is "read". As soon as it is updated by a sysadmin, then it appears "BOLD" and UNREAD" to the original user (as it has updates for their reading). When it is assigned to a user is also then becomes bold for that user (but not for the person who read it...) It would need a log of who had read what.. but ultimately, you could then update the tile on the front page with a number for the quantity of "NEW" tickets too!. Sounds like quite a bit of work though!
mattianuk Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 I would like to easily and quickly allow users to select the type of thing they want to book, rather then displaying all on one page if thats possible?

IE - I don't want iPad trolley the lesson before someone wants them - how would I set that - so effectively they need to give 60 mins notice
nickbro Posted July 23, 2013 Author Posted July 23, 2013 It's an advanced feature, only available by adding stuff to the hapConfig.xml file On the resource you want, add allowance="-15". Change the -15 to -60 (60 minutes before the lesson) or what ever number you want. A positive number is into the lesson.
nickbro Posted July 23, 2013 Author Posted July 23, 2013 I would like to easily and quickly allow users to select the type of thing they want to book, rather then displaying all on one page if thats possible? That isn't doable out of the box, you will need a page with links that limit the booking system view. A link on a page to /hap/bookingsystem/t-Laptops will just show resources of type Laptops. So you could on the homepage, add links to: Book a Laptop Trolley: /hap/bookingsystem/t-Laptops, Book an ICT Room: /hap/bookingsystem/t-Room, Book some equipment: /hap/bookingsystem/t-Equipment
mattianuk Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Yeah, tried that before, couldnt build a page in hap that would keep them logged in. Not to worry, but a feature request all the same Even if it was just each of those links put along the top in the yellow bar. Also - btw - can we change the Week 1 text? We only have 1 week - but it would be useful to customise the text there for general info - eg if a special date is coming up or something?
mattgrimley Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Love the new "New Booking" slide in.. Currently it has: Year Subject User To Book For Make Static I'd quite like a: Repeat for [ ] number of fortnights Repeat for [ ] number of half/terms With a summary of what you are proposing to book appearing below: [X] 01/03/14 Day 1 Period 4 - Book Free [X] 15/03/14 Day 1 Period 4 - Book Free [ ] 29/03/14 Day 1 Period 4 - Clash [X] 15/04/14 Day 1 Period 4 - Book Free This functionality could even extend to staff to allow them to book a slot on a recurring basis.. So i can book the same slot for 4 weeks (not quite a static, but often we get short term recurrances) Sorry, i'm aware that i like to ask "BIG"!

SmithR Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Is it possible to add something like Two factor authentication into HAP?? something like an open source two factor authentication and uses TOTP codes and HOTP google-authenticator - Two-step verification - Google Project Hosting which then users could download an smartphone app which produces the codes
nickbro Posted September 12, 2013 Author Posted September 12, 2013 I will look into the 2 factor auth. It would be this sort of thing though: 1. User logs onto HAP+ 2. User then asks for a code to use on public devices 3. User stores this somehow, or has it emailed to them 4. User can then use that code to log in, which will expire after a set time What do people think of this?
Paul-K Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Hi, I would like to use the help desk for myself (IT) and the site manager (BSS). Would it be possibe to ask for a feature to add a drop down in the help desk so that users can say what department or person they would like help from and that would then email the correct user that was allocated with the job that needs doing?
nickbro Posted September 14, 2013 Author Posted September 14, 2013 Hi @Paul-K I will have to look into this, it's a bit complicated to do. You could do something with your email system, set a rule up that if a subject has a certain word in it "BSS" then forward to Site Manager. Just a case of getting staff to put that in the subject line.

Hmm, how would this work with the booking week in advanced limit? I will look into it though
mattgrimley Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Hmm, how would this work with the booking week in advanced limit? I will look into it though I tend to set the "weeks in advance" quite high anyway: 6 weeks.. Most teachers know what they want to achieve for the next half term.. so i think it's fair enough in our place.. i do limit the bookings per week too, so the scope for abuse is quite low. Thanks for looking into it Nick It will be very popular with the teachers!
calwyn Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Hi @nickbro - In the booking system. Would it be possible for Admins to have the ability to make a certain date within a Static Booking FREE again. not just override it, but make it available for people to book... this could be useful if there was a field-trip of an exam, leaving the timetabled lesson not on. Also Would it be possible to add some sort of validation, as some of our teachers have managed to break the booking system by entering the same booking twice.... I assume that they are using the "back button" and then thinking that their booking wasn't saved, but this breakes the bookining system completely untill I manually remove the offending booking. Cheers, Calwyn.
Arkaine Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 (edited) 1. How about a utility that shifts the bookings %n% number of days starting at %date%? If the school closes due to weather (or some other reason), we'd have to manually change the dates for each future booking. I thought about writing a PowerShell script to directly edit the XML file, but if it was integrated in the BookingSystem control panel for librarians to do themselves, that'd be even better. 2. Alternating days vs. alternating weeks would be nice too! We do Day A and Day B (rather than Week A and Week B) at our high school, and Day 1-5 at our elementary schools which don't necessarily line up with the day of the week (M-F). There could be a year setup utility where you tag dates (I'd be happy with just an XML file). To do Week 1 and Week 2, you just tag all 5 days as 1 and the next 5 days as 2. To do Day A and B, you'd just tag the individual days. There could be special tags for HOLIDAY or CLOSED. Edited September 18, 2013 by Arkaine
