mattysmith80 Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Hi, I have Meraki set up on four iPads for testing at the moment, I was a bit confused when I saw one of them in London on the location (bearing in mind I'm in the north east of England) will this be something to do with the member of staffs public IP at home doing something strange ? Thanks Matty
Guest Guest Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 If you are part of the NGFL you may see it as London because that's where (one of?) the connections onto "the Internet" is, Camden I believe.
mattysmith80 Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 Oh right, thought as much and yes with the NGFL, mind you, if the iPad is at home connected to there provider surely that would be dishing out its location not NGFL
jamesrhart Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 We had a trial of Meraki wireless and use Systems Manager, we're in Devon and it places our staff all over the country, unfortunately it's simply not very accurate, although I believe there's now an app for mobile devices which will feed back the GPS data.
AngryTechnician Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I've noticed the same on home broadband, our staff are scattered around from London to Sheffield according to Meraki. Our 3G iPads sometimes show up in Newbury where Vodafone's HQ is.
SovietRussia Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 It put all our iPads in camden once also, but we did not have location services turned on - You really need those turned on!
Sylv3r Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Our Meraki shows our iPADs when in school on some golf course around 8 miles away.
MatthewL Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Very similar with Facebook status, the whole town around here reports as been in a local village nearby. Never get the town name on the locations.
DaveCoop Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Any Comments on Meraki as a whole? we are just looking into a scalable WLAN and i'm liking Meraki any info would be a great help as its going to cost around 30K and my concern is the school is behind a proxy so I don't want a guest access network that needs settings putting in also how does it work at home ?? thanks
