  1. thank you, we have removed lightspeed to see if anything improves on a couple of devices... when looking at the lightspeed logs it shows multiple connects and reconnects to different network cards and its almost like it cant handle it... we also half wonder if the Ransomeware / zero trust element of our endpoint protection is doing something weird thats upsetting the lightspeed agent so we have taken that off a device too and left lightspeed on to see what happens
  2. Thank you for the reply, glad to see we not alone... I have logged a ticket with lightspeed yesterday and sent over a load of logs to see if they can get to the bottom of it... out of curiosity what endpoint AV are you using ?
  3. Morning, just reaching out to see if anyone else is experiencing this issue. We have a bizarre scenario where you may have a device, for example a laptop... user logs on everything is great and then randomly they will get in Edge and Chrome a message that says "Hmmmm your internet access is blocked"... But if you open up firefox you can browse the internet no problem... but then the device almost slowly dies and looses all connectivity. A reboot sorts it and the issue might go away, but then randomly happen again in a couple of days... or even a week later. Our set up is Windows 11, Panda 360, Lightspeed, and the basics, nothing fancy. Mainly Asus laptops, although the same issue happens on desktops, surface devices, lenovos dells etc We have performed Driver updates, bios updates, firmware updates, rebuilt devices.... just when you think ... looks like we cracked it, it pops its head up again. It was just a long shot but just wondered if anyone else has had any issues like this...
  4. Thank you for all the responses, I can see its caused quite a bit of debate... Ive got some info now for putting together some "expections" of the staff when they are given a device. Thank you
  5. We are issuing Al Teaching staff laptops across our 5 Secondary Schools and taking all the desktops out the classrooms, I was wondering if anyone has a cheat sheet who has done something similar. Something along the lines of here is your laptop and these are the expectations... Always have it charged, take care of it, no sticking stickers onto it etc. Thank you
  6. We have been trialling Sign in App and works really well. You can buy an iPad and case off Sign in App or use your own..
  7. After a year long battle to get Inventry to get Central working for our 35 School MAT I think Inventry has had its day, its reminding me of Sims, where they failed to innovate quickly enough and the other players in the market are hitting them hard. They are desperating trying to get us to use their half baked, half way house cloud system that essentially does nothing for a Trust and still uses a pieces of software locally to have access to central staff records. Add that to them then just adding a school thats not one of ours to our access over the weekend so we could then see all their staff and pupil info and have full admin rights to their system. How can we even trust them not to add one of our schools to someone elses access ? I feel like its a company why are not prepared or ready to adapt to the cloud and offer a half baked solution to many of the bolt ons. Really frustrated.
  8. Anyone out there using Lightspeeds Digital Insight product ? Just wondering what you experience was with it... I find its very unstable... features regularly just disappear and I have to speak to them to re-enable and then other aspects of it just dont work... it seems a bit of a half baked product.
  9. Is there any Google Reps on here ? I am having a nightmare with Google Workspace Support where they keep rejecting my request to increase our Workspace licences. We have hit 10,000 licences but need around 15 - 18,000 licences... and just keep getting rejected... The Google rep I spoke to at Bett said he was gonna sort it as he said Education Workspace licences are "unlimited" Thank you
  10. This has been an ambition of mine for quite a while. We have 35 schools in our Trust and the Data Protection Office regularly gets subject access requests which involves requests for CCTV footage.. Currently he then has to speak to each school, get them to access the system, download it, share it and then find a way to blur faces etc out... also as a Trust we are the data controller so it appeals to me to have all my CCTV data in one place, if thats cloud or server or both then ill look into it... Ive now tested both Verkada and Merkia Cloud cameras... both excellent bits of kit, you can have all your schools in one place, set alerts for movement, set alerts if someones tampering with the gear etc... My only problem is that the camera and licence model is expensive especially when you eventually get to 35 schools. We are. currently just about the try Paxton 10 cameras and system out, its appeal is that its that Hybrid middle ground, you buy a server that manages upto 1000 cameras, it has web access and offers much of the features of Verkada and Meraki without he ongoing subscription... The beauty of it too is that you can then integrate your door access into the same platform, and alarm, fire systems, even lighting.. So it offers sooooo much It also allows you to utilise your existing camera estate and bring them into the platform, meaning you could adopt schools very quickly and have everything in one place alot quicker that doing the Verkada and Meraki route.. We havnt made a full decision on things yet, we need to test the Paxton system fully before making any final judgement
  11. The Windows NT Server must have fell over again.... FFS ..... Our schools just looking at me daily now thinking why did you make us sign up to this rubbish
  12. Classcharts is our data processor and must inform their clients (the data controllers), without delay, of any data breach. These arrangements should be described in the contract our schools have with them. We in turn have a statutory responsibility to inform the ICO of the data breach within 72 hours.
  13. Ah man, the whole Bromcom slowness has really been a right pain in getting our schools onboard and enjoying the product… Todays incident isn’t a one off. We have moved all 35 of our schools over to Bromcom and from the beginning they have all said, seems really slow around peak times, as in on a morning when every Bromcom user is trying to login and take a register…. We have spent countless hours trying all sorts of throttling on our firewalls to prioritise Bromcom traffic, turn things off so they can hog bandwidth but it makes literally no difference, and when you read through here and the community the common theme pretty much is that Bromcom is slow… I mean what’s it going to take to sort out and get it better for everyone ? We have had support tickets opened and closed and just feel like going round in circles…. Come on Bromcom get on it and sort it out…
  14. this is one of those things where you think, how on earth does this actually happen, surely everyone's data is siloed away from each other... but clearly not.... Classcharts is a pretty reputable company and it always worries me when we have staff beavering away signing up to all sorts putting personal data in and not stopping to think about the data.. and then going "oh what you mean a Privacy impact assessment" I have already signed up for 5 years
  15. I just called them and they are currently investigating... when I said how will I know when its resolved, do you have a status page etc... he said they didnt have a service and we will probably receive an email.

  17. Has anyone had any experience with trying to get Google to add more than the initial 10,000 licences increased ? As a very large MAT who have a lot more than 10,000 uses we have quickly hit the limit but Google won’t increase it… just wondering if anyone else had similar problem and if they managed to get Google to increase the limit
  18. We are a microsoft shop with 35 schools, but have about 1,500 DFE laptops that are should we say... very poor Windows machines, but very quick ChromeOS Flex machines.... So I am coming at this from a "Making Google Work with Microsoft" angle...
  19. not when you have primary school kids who struggle to enter a username and a password in most cases.....
  20. So, after loads of time and trial and error ive finally got it passing the username from the initial page to the Azure AD logon page..... In Device Setting you need to have Single sign-on IdP redirection - Take users to the default Google Sign in Screen..... In User and Browser Settings you need to have Single sign-on IdP redirection - Allow users to go directly to the SAML IdP Page Now for the important bit..... (this will pass the username entered at the initial Google Page to the Azure AD Page) in Device Settings Autofill Username on SAML ldP page - URL Parameter Name - set this to login_hint
  21. Hi everyone, as a Microsoft house we are exploring how we can use Chrome OS Flex on our older hardware. We have SSO all configured pushing of extension etc all set up… but I can’t for the life of me find anything where I can centrally control the taskbar and the launcher / shelf… ideally I want it to have what I want in there… Is there a way to do that or am I missing something ? Thank you
  22. Hi there was wondering if someone might be able to help, I have SSO working on chromebooks works really well, but the issue I am facing is that the Microsoft Page I am presented with requires the full email address to be entered. Ideally for younger students I just want them to enter their username not the full email bit, is there a way of pre populating the Azure AD page with the domain like you can with the google sign in page? Many thanks
  23. Hi, I am after some advice. As a Trust we have Apple School Manager set up for the Trust and then have all schools in that set up as Locations. When Syncing users into Apple School from Azure AD, I am wanting to set a Location so when those users come in, they then are assigned to the right location. Was wondering if anyone has done this. Thank you
  24. Leaving them to fix it Ive done that several times and they just close the ticket after a few weeks... The support if pretty poor like.... if you get onto your account manager, you end up speaking with a Technical Sales person who are really good and they then take it "away" to investigate... then it falls into a black hole... and then the cycle repeats.. I have a demo of Imperos new "Content Keeper" which they have just brought over from the states, we also use Senso so im banking on them releasing a decent filter that can then tap into the rest of their producsts.
  25. Sound very "lightspeed".... We wont have alerts so I make a call, they are then "oh your not the first person to report that".... Alert then kind of works but then doesn't really and essentially support just stop supporting you and you go round in a loop....
