CAM Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Hotmail is finally dead and everyone has been shunted on to Outlook.com after an eye watering 150 million GB of data was migrated. So long, Hotmail: Remaining users migrated to Outlook.com ? The Register
rich_tech Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 this is still my longest serving email address my hotmail or "outlook.com" as it is now
nickbro Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 I've had a @Hotmail.com address since I created it back in 1998, managed to get a @live.co.uk addy when that become available as well, reserved my name and got it, was so amazed (nick). Missed getting an @Outlook.com address though.
JJonas Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Ive had a Hotmail address since before it was owned by Microsoft.

ICTDirect_Dave Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Ahh I've had my hotmail.com since 1996 still serving me well, It's currently accumulated 56,222 unread messages in addition to all those I actually choose to read. I know I could do a quick clear out but I just can't bring myself to do it now. I just want to see how long they let me grow my storage for!
mats Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Ive had a Hotmail address since before it was owned by Microsoft. Ha - I had a Hotmail address *until* it was owned by MS!
featured_spectre Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 My hotmail userID number is 10921... with my account being registered on 9th October 1996. The account is almost 20 years old now...was made for me when I was in school so I could have a E-Pal in america with the exchange school we were "twinned" with.
fiza Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 So what happens now? If the hotmail addresses are still valid whats changed? I have a hotmail address ([email protected]) I also registered an outlook address ([email protected]) Does it mean eventually I will lose hotmail one?
localzuk Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 The interface is different, and the platform the addresses are hosted on is different. @hotmail.com addresses are still valid, but I don't think new ones will be issued.
