Ebay - seller refunded

A strange one this, I bought somethign for school on eBay last night. A bargain and paid via my credit card. The other person refunded me and has now relisted the item without a reason and he is not replying why. I didn't think eBay allowed this to happen as its a contract. He has changed it to shipped too which is very weird. I don't want to kick up a stink the the eBay mafia but it doesn't seem fair really.

Something doesn't sound right about this - seems a bit odd...

Seems shifty to me. He has probably changed the status to shipped to avoid having to deal with you as if he cancelled the transaction on eBay you would have to consent to the cancellation.

 

I wouldn't worry too much about it; leave honest feedback if you wish, and count yourself lucky you don't have to deal with someone that unreliable.

I've had this happen to me. Generally (I think) it's because the seller wanted more money for the item than they got in the final bid. Leave feedback stating what happened.

I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't the first time the seller had done this

I always checked their feedback before a purchase now to see if there are any dodgy dealings beforehand

Even though he refunded, you can still leave bad feedback, he can't leave any for you though. Hint Hint

Did you buy from a private seller or an Ebay shop? There's a big difference if the shop does it I believe

I have bid again for the same amount, he only has 54 feedback but he has sold one before for £102. I did bid on it previously but was outbid and got a second chance offer for £141... he might have been annoyed as I didn't take the second chance offer.

it was because your payment was held back.. i am all ready waiting for money to clear from last week.. when i buy i pay not make people wait for payment..

 

It came out of my credit card straight away so not sure what they are on about.

This is nothing to do with you - I've had it a few times from buyers - PayPal do this regularly on certain items

99.9% of the time they clear within 48 horus

I had this once. The listing was identical but the item location was changed from London to Hong Kong.
