I'm going to wait a year and see what happens in the new gen consoles (I'm guessing you are talking about the up coming xbox conference, which people believe that the new Xbox will be revealed?).

Anyone thinking of buying it? Really looking forward to it personally and will probably pre-order.

Not whilst they talk about "always-on" needed for gaming.

This is a big no-no for me!

Think I'm going to completely bypass the next gen of consoles. I have a pretty decent PC, and I have a bluray player. Why would I want a console?

@localzuk - +1! I find my NES games much more satisfying for quick fixes

I will probably play my current xbox until the live subscription runs out, and may buy the next one depending on what actually comes of it, in regards to always on, DRM, backwards compatibility etc. If it doesn't get better, then I will stick with my PC for world of tanks and EU3

because I don't want a pc in the living room and I want to play games on the big tv?

not a fan of always on internet requirement but if there are any games that I really want its just something I will have to put up with even though its a silly requirement

I gave up on pc gaming a while back got fed up of waiting for games to install then downloading patches and patching patches but these days consoles are as bad I get fed up of starting a game I havnt played in a while only to be greeted with you have been signed out of xbox live until you patch your game great few 100mb patch on a 1mb line yawn

its not just consoles that have always on internet drm look at sim city or steam iirc as 2 examples

Not to mention a benefit with steam, you can add games you have purchased from elsewhere, put in the code, and if it is in the steam library, it will automatically add it there. Prime example - EU3. Bought mine from gamefly, downloaded, installed, booted up Steam, added game, and it is now available on my steam downloadable games. Origin can't/wont provide that, neither would Xbox/PS3.

fair enough, but my PC is in the living room and linked to the big TV so my consoles rarely get used now except to play the games I already own for them.

That's part of the reason I shifted towards PC, console gaming has become so much like PC gaming now that there's little benefit for me.

Totally agree, DRM is a big problem. The irony is, DRM is encouraging piracy because some of the games (EA in particular) are virtually unplayable unless you crack them or download a pirated copy!

Only if you've been online first.

I call irrelevant... Its not always on.

Also, why would you complain about updates? Wouldn't you prefer your games to be updated to fix bugs? I wish The Saboteur got some updates, as its a great game but buggy as hell.

Also, Steam now have a new mode which is designed for use on TVs. So, you can use it as a console.

its the same as the crap you get at the start of dvd's you wouldn't knick a car, or thankyou for buying this blueray . . . makes it more and more tempting to pirate them so I don't have to put up with it I just want to watch a film Disney are the worst for this yes fine put trailers for films on the disc but go straight to the menu and let me select if I want to watch them not force me to skip half a dozen ads for films I already own

because a lot of updates smack of we couldn't be bothered testing this and if its several hundred mb it takes a long time to download them

steam does have offline mode but say I take my laptop to a school it wont work via the proxy and I want to demonstrate say simcity4 unless ive previously told it to work offline it wont iirc or say my internet at home goes down I cant play it without going online to tell it to go offline

No always online or mandatory online subscriptions for me.

If I get a next-gen it'll be a PS4. If not it'll be a small PC for the living room.

I'm going to hunt each one of you individually, and FORCE you to buy it

How dare you say you'll skip it.

You're going to miss out on Halo, and GoW! Not to mention the rest of the xbox limited games!

Grrrrrrrr....

I'm watching you... all of you.

Both vastly overrated games/franchises IMO

And the vast majority of games do get a PC release eventually, games studios are out to capture every market they can at the end of the day. Money talks.

Yeah, i spent A LOT of my time on PGR4. Brilliant game. I hope 5 is out of this world.

Meh...

You stick to your STUPED minecraft. STUPED! STUPED! Lego wannabes!

Was never a fan of Halo, or GoW. I predominantly got the xbox due to the vast majority of my friends owning one and hardly any having a PS3. I still do PC gaming, I still do xbox gaming, just split my time.

So.. you can't handle simple fps games? :p Halo 1 2 3 is amazing. Simply, mind blowing.

Los, you're slowly working your way up to #1 spot of my most wanted list! lol

I wouldn't go that far about halo its ok but I reckon I had more fun playing duke 3d or doom when they were new then I ever did in any halo game. Best halo game I can remember playing was online where only weapons allowed were pistol and rocket launcher and I just went round beating everyone over the head with the rocket launcher as it was more fun

might dig pgr4 out one of these days and the defunct falling down a mountain game (some snowboarding game long since dead)

I've got the horsepower and technical knowledge to game on a PC, why would I get a subscription touting vendor locked piece of kit that doesn't facilitate work as well as play?
