samba_man Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Me and a friend are going over to Bournemouth for a relaxing weekend away over Easter. Looking at the weather though it's going to be a bit nippy to spend to much of our time outside, any recommendations for warm things to do or inside places to go? Cheers!
witch Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 The Oceanarium is worth a visit Very expensive though - you would be better off going down to Weymouth Sealife Centre - much better value but it is outside! The Russell-Cotes museum is a quirky interesting visit - it just up from the seafront and it was free last time I went. Other than that - Tower Park in Poole has a cinema, a Splashdown water-parky thing, and a wide variety of eateries. You could easily spend a whole day there if you wanted to.. To be honest, as long as it isn't actually raining, the scenery around here - Studland, New Forest, seaside, is just lovely and worth it even if you catch a bus (there's a nice one that goes over the chain ferry to Swanage) or drive around. You can walk along the front for a long way. I'll keep thinking. There are lots of places to go nearby but it depends on your transport.
samba_man Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 Thanks witch and cesil thats really helpful. We're going by car so can travel around a bit. I went on the Purbeck chain ferry last year sometime, that was quite novel, think we'll have to go over that again providing its not too busy! I've had a look on the Bournemouth website and it looks like theres a 1/4 marathon and a duck race too.
fs171 Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Christchurch is worth a look (east along the coast) lots of pubs and cafes along with some different shops. Tower Park is also a good shout witch, tend to mainly go to the cinema there as it has 'rocky' chairs (that recline) as well as the normal restaurants. The Purbecks, Swanage and Corfe Castle are also nice, with a steam train between Swanage and corfe. (Highly recommend the pubs in corfe, generally where we eat on Duke of Edinburgh).
Brpilot99 Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 If you'r into that sort of thing you could go and watch them pull down the IMax theatre on Bournmouth sea front!!

truebluesteve Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Go into town at about 11:30pm and watch all the drunk people - it's hilarious. My favourite is the drunk mobile phone user - 1 Search for phone in handbag 2 Find phone 3 Drop phone 4 Pick phone up 5 Hold phone at arms length 6 Search for number on phone 7 Dial wrong number 8 Apologise to the person you have just woken up 9 Drop phone And repeat from number 4
