ChrisH Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 This is when there is barely anyone using the connection at 8:11 am
AceDaz Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Glad were all in the same boat and not just individual schools
psillars Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Hi, It would be interesting if any of you have the ability to download a large file from within the LA network. You are most likely to find that your physical point to point connection from your property to their core will run at the speed it is designed to. What we see in most instances is that the outbound internet section from the LA core is the bit that is over subscribed (or maybe in their terms, carefully cost managed), so technically under your SLA you would get what you are meant to, but in practical terms you don't. It is like your DSL modem at home syncing at 24Mb/s but you only getting 5Mb/s because your ISPs upstream capacity is saturated. I know none of this helps, but it was more of an interesting thought/test, than any comfort !
AceDaz Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 I got a mini speed tester installed on my web farm and that still reports random speed
psillars Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Interesting. Are you a standalone site or do you have any other Schools plugged in through your comms rack, maybe a multi SHUK chassis in your rack, or I am guessing it could be possible that your LES or SHUK service connects to another school first and not directly to the LA core.
AceDaz Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 As far as I know we are a standalone site. We have a Cisco switch in our core cabinet which leads back to Preston over Fibre.

Ste_Harve Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 We've also noticed reduced speed on our cleo connection, just done a speedtest to lancaster server and speeds came back as 25down and 9 up. I've also noticed moodle being more slow than normal this week, but moodle's never been that quick to be honest.
krb548 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I have just checked our speed today. We used to get towards 75 on speediest.net but today only getting around 20. Has anyone logged a call with OneConnect?
dezt Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Just checked ours now http://www.speedtest.net/result/2666847263.png but nobody's in school apart from me, i'll check again tomorrow when lessons are going on.
jhothersall Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Ive logged it with OneConnect ... No reply as of yet
AceDaz Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 @jhothersall It's all your fault lol I finally got a error back saying that the Filtering System is Currently Unavailable. Contact your Administrator if you require access to this site". I was only accessing http://www.google.co.uk lol
AceDaz Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Back up and working..did a speedtest lol http://www.speedtest.net/result/2668934803.png
AceDaz Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Has anyone had this issue before? Does seem like a county issue as I have had it with machines connected directly out to the CLEO Network and not through our TMG.
