The king of random - is a good un to while away an hour or two. I liked the home made spot welder from microwave oven bits and solid rocket motors (inc recipe).

 

The other half has got used to me cooking stuff up for SFX - but draws the line at loosing the microwave to a project.

I started using Reddit at the weekend after installing an app for it on my tablet and finally pull myself away after hours of browsing the most pointless yet "one more click" syndrome inducing stuff on the Internet. Some rather disturbing or downright weird posts and subreddits mind you! (Dragons + Cars = ???)....

i used to go on digg and hear about reddit, tried it once and thought it was silly too. then i went back for some unknow reason and now im hooked.

 

there is a good article some where about all the people it has helped but i cant find it now. this includes things like the old man who was to be alone for his birthday in a home and reddit sent him bag loads of cards. to the African villager who was attacked with a machete when trying to defend his village, reddit raised a load of money and built them a wall to keep folk out.

Reddit is awesome in parts but also EXTREMELY creepy in others. That story is made doubly creepy when you realise that the site owners had been defending subreddits like /r/jailbait as "free speech" for ages before enough of a clamour was raised that they had to shut the subreddits down. Also you have vile places like /r/mensrights, so not all of reddit is "good". Stick to /r/funny and /r/pics, stay out of the comments and you'll be fine.
