Domino Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 I can't decide if this is awesome or terrible... Sakurako Shimizu: Jewelry for Network Administrators
bladedanny Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Getting married at Easter so already got the rings but if I hadn't I would want these: Sakurako Shimizu: "I Do" Wedding Band
X-13 Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Getting married at Easter so already got the rings but if I hadn't I would want these: Sakurako Shimizu: "I Do" Wedding Band "This test pieces was made with some gold rings from my mother. I melted them." I'm sure she was happy about that...
witch Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 The wedding rings are the only things I would consider. The rest is just dreadful. I would much rather see jewellery made from old bits of kit than clunky network topology necklaces.
synaesthesia Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Terrible. I was expected real cat6 necklaces with jangly handy tools and RJ45 ends. Maybe with some BNC terminators and T pieces for nostalgia. But no
TechMonkey Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 I've made some network plug cuff links that work as real network killers. They are a great talking piece and really show your inner geek. Have to watch them though as they work loose. 1
sparkeh Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 For my wedding my now brother in law made cuff links that were NES controllers. They are awesome.
LosOjos Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Awful! The only one that I'd have considered was this one, if it was a cuff link rather than a pin
AMLinington Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Terrible. I was expected real cat6 necklaces with jangly handy tools and RJ45 ends. Maybe with some BNC terminators and T pieces for nostalgia. But no I was expecting that too. I once knew a girl that wore a Male-Female USB extension cable as a bracelet. I thought it was kinda cool but a bit useless. I think we should all come up with our own geek line of actual 'recycled' componant jewellery. I do jewellery making so this wouldn't be too hard. I'm thinking some sort of Cat5 bangle and maybe something arty with thread and CPU pins...
witch Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 I make jewellery as well and my sister does very special stuff with precious stones and silver and gold wire - I wonder what she could wrap for me? Maybe a polished CMOS battery? I used to make bracelets out of multicoloured ribbon cable - perhaps I should revive them? (mind you, I used to make jewellery out of small bits of motorbike engines too - small end bearings on leather straps, that kind of thing)
john Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Nice idea but a bit clunky in parts I'd say. Talking of random items for weddings, our exams officers son got married the other month and they wore cleaned up nuts and bolts for cuff-links on the wedding day (they are mechanics / wagon drivers) and I thought that was a great thing as one of them forgot to bring them
AMLinington Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Is it sad that @synaesthesia has sparked an idea in my head for a 'charm bracelet' idea? I need a life I think... WTB 1 life. 1
synaesthesia Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Short patch lead with an RJ45 coupler? Two items you should always carry about your person anyway 1
