Is anyone else using this as a wireless solution?

 

We are using it and overall I think its possibly the worst system I have seen! your thoughts would be great maybe I've configured something wrong?

I had a client who installed this, a highly configurable and secure system that would be at home in many corporate environments.

Unfortunately sledgehammer and nut springs to mind.

Schools need simple wifi with granular gateway controls and these things seem to make the easiest task an administrative chore.

We have about 60 APs and a wx5002 and its awful. Can't get any support for it and can't find anyone anywhere who has it working reliably. We are looking to replace once I can secure the funding.

 

Is that right that all the traffic goes through the controller?

 

I am also struggling to get the firmware upgraded. To be honest I'm scared to touch it in case I can't get it back up again!

Feature Overview

The local forwarding feature of wireless access controllers allows data exchange among wireless clients to be accomplished on APs. In a centralized WLAN architecture, the APs transparently transmit the data packets of clients to the ACs, which process the packets centrally. As the clients’ data transmission rate increases, the forwarding workload of the ACs keeps increasing. With local forwarding enabled, the APs forward client data traffic directly, and the ACs no longer participate in data traffic forwarding, which effectively reduces the workload of the ACs.

 

Benefits

In a centralized WLAN architecture, the local forwarding solution greatly alleviates the workload of the ACs and CAPWAP tunnels in AC+Fit AP networking mode and reduces the data transmission delay. With the deployment of the local forwarding solution, the AC+Fit AP architecture maintains its advantage over the FAT AP architecture in aspects such as security and management.

Application Scenarios

The local forwarding solution can be widely deployed on large-scale wireless service networks. It can maintain the advantage of the AC+Fit AP architecture over the FAT AP architecture in aspects such as security and management, as well as reducing the workload of the ACs and the data transmission delay.

 

How did you know we purchased it from SwitchShop! - Think I've found the answer! - within the Wireless Service template there's an option to enable Local Forwarding. Will give this a go later, hopefully the speed will improve!
