MattDLEA Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Hope this is the best place, We have a lot of old equipment that we need to dispose of. Im guessing we cant throw the base units and screens in the tip - how do you get rid of yours? Also is there a rule on keyboards, mice and cables do these need disposing of safely or is a bin ok for these? Thanks
CamelMan Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Your right - you cant throw monitors and pc's in the bin - you also cant take them to a skip (well if you take one at a time and pass off as your own you can but thats not the point). We've used Ecosystems in the past -> they pickup for free and they clean it all up and try to sell it on. Any profit is then (in theory) split between them and you. The picked up the lot from us (mice, keyboards, box of old bits etc) and there are various options like getting the HD's drilled through. Main thing is they dont charge you for pickups like alot of companies seem to be trying. Hope that helps!
laserblazer Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 We use prmgreentech.com and find them very good. They take projector bulbs as well, which is handy. 1
staningrimsby Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 We use the following; North West Electronics Recycling Centre, Carnegie Road, off Green Lane, Liverpool L13 7HP Tel: 0151 2285626 Fax: 0151 2300163 www.northwestelectronicsrecycling.co.uk. They normally charge for individual items for businesses but for education there is an admin charge + petrol (was about £50 last time we used them). They will quote you if you ring. They recycle televisions, monitors, music systems, computer systems, printers, fax machines, video and cd players, microwaves and other electronic and electrical equipment. You will be given all necessary paperwork in line with government guidelines. My contact is Sean Akins tel: 0151 228 5626 email: [email protected]. They also provide you with a disposal certificate to say everything has been disposed of IAW government regulations. :-)

japes1980 Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 For anyone based in the North East, we used Innov8 http://www.innov8disposal.com Excellent service, took mixed bag of printers, computer monitors and towers, laptops and projector bulbs. Much to the caretaker's delight, they'll collect fluorescent tubes too.
