localzuk Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Has anyone here rolled out IE7 to all the machines in the school yet? Are there any known issues with any software, such as SIMS.net? We are still on IE6 here and I'm wanting to get it sorted at some point...

We have IE7 on all but our SIMS Server. I checked only last week with SIMS Technical help and they recommended not going to IE7 until they advise doing so. As an odd quirk we recently purchased a new Dell small form PC direct through Capita (it seemed to work out cheaper than direct through Dell) for SIMS work and during the initial set up despite telling critical updates not to apply it IE7 came in and went on. We had a Capita contracted technician come in to set SIMS on it and he didn't have a problem with IE7 but for the life of me I can't remember which settings he changed to ensure compatibility. The machine is excellent though apart from an annoying mouse happening which seems to only effect left handed me - I must keep hitting the buttons on the left side of the mouse which results in the screen image rotating!
6Foot2 Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 We are using IE7 here. No major problems. The only revision I have had to make in it's deployment is to turn off the Phishing filter, as the pages take too long to load while they are checked if it is enabled.

strawberry Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 ie 7 went out just fine here. Group policy was fun, did several things, including turn off phishing filter turn off user survey turn on tabs turn off other toolbars ( and then uninstall them as they play havoc with ranger) turn on menu.
_Bat_ Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 I was told that changing GPOs on a workstation with IE7 installed would allow me to change the GPOs for IE7. This wasn't the case however. Do I need to install IE7 on the domain controller?

Amazing how they let that one slip through the net and need to give you a server patch!!
