Blatant thread to get quotes for award

Afternoon all.

 

As part of my shortlisting for the Naace ICT Impact Award for Technical Support Service Impact (a heck of a lot of which is down to stuff through EduGeek), I am on a blatant trawl through threads which show where my advice / guidance / instruction has been beneficial to others, and where possible it has had an impact of the tech used for learning.

 

If I could plead with members to wrack their brains with anything they would like to contribute it would be appreciated.

 

Oh yes ... and the deadline is CoP tomorrow.

 

One illustrious person has already said, "Tony, he's a tiger, nuff said!" ... so I think we can consider that aspect covered

The Tigers benefit to others.... Medication from his bones and bile (so the TV ads say), something fury for kids to want to cuddle up to.... Seriously Tony has been excellent support to myself and many other members. He has been a true sounding board for ideas for new technology in schools, always open for a technology debate on the pros and cons of a new solution as well as someone to get advice on pre-interview thoughts as well as provide excellent connections to open up networking opportunities.

 

The advice he has given on ISPs and Filtering is excellent, as is his understanding of Data Protection and how to apply it sensibly within an education setting.I have enjoyed our networking opportunities for sharing ideas and thoughts on new technology (or in some cases old tech) in schools and how it will benefit myself and my team, my colleagues both Teaching and Support as well as the Students.

But generally any time someone creates a thread about Safe Harbour, Dropbox, Google Apps, Office 365 (or some combination thereof) and you manage to reply calmly and refrain from pointing out the eleventy-million other threads on the same topic where you've already given the same advice.

was of particular use to me and I used your many sensible points to carry the day in an argument about what should and shouldn't be done at one of my schools. I found your prose balanced and thoughtful and it was very very useful to me.

 

There have been many occasions when your comments have been useful - you always know how to defuse a situation by explanation, exposition and people management!

Tony has always been there for me, both professionally and as a friend. He gave me the opportunity I needed to get into working in schools after being made redundant from a programming position. He gave me a job at a local school which eventually let me into teaching (my current career). I have so much to be thank ful for. While working as a technician he kept me informed of regular trends and mentored me to know the in's and outs of technical support. - Thank you!
