pbad Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 The School uses ActivInspire v1.7.62196 and I would like to know how to set the Primary look and feel as the default/permanent for all users. I just want to stop the pupils and staff from "accidently" loading the studio look and feel. Thanks in advance.
phillyrovers Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Hi pbad, There is currently no way of doing this easily using Inspire settings. We will raise this with our development team for them to consider having this as an option in a future version. thank you
garethEds Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Can the option be set in the registry or is it a profile thing? It seems that once it has been chosen once it continues to open in the desired mode - with us that is until the user logs off and logs back on.
phillyrovers Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Hi Gareth, Apologies for the delay in responding to this one, we didn't receive our normal notification for some reason. This is a profile thing, and can be set per user. The folder that gets amended when you set the desired look and feel is: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Promethean\ActivInspire It could be that any changes that are being made are being refreshed by some network profile and reverting them back. Hope this helps.
pbad Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 Is there any update on this? As the profile seems to changes randomly from the activprimary look to the activstudio look. Also sometimes activinspire asks the users which look they want, even when they have already chosen activprimary?
phillyrovers Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Hi pbad, It will probably be better if you logged this with our support team so that they can take a closer look and figure out what is happening. Sounds like the file is either not saving, or not being updated correctly. Thank you
LeMarchand Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 Apologies for the thread resurrection, but I'm feeling ACTIV today! Has anyone ever got this sorted? Apparently clicking "select ACTIVPrimary look" is beyond our staff.
phillyrovers Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 Hi LeMarchand, There is no way of forcing a particular look and feel of ActivInspire to users, however as mentioned above, if this setting is not being stored, then this suggests an issue with permissions somewhere on the machine. Thanks 1

Thanks I suspect it is stored (and if I could work out where, I reckon I could duplicate it) but as no-one gets rid of the dashboard/locks their machines/or curbs their click-happy tendencies that they are inadvertently changing to Studio mode. I just checked a freshly imaged machine and it defaulted to "Primary" mode as expected. Oh well, they'll have to learn how to use the dashboard to swap it back!
phillyrovers Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 Hi LeMarchand, The setting is stored in here: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Promethean\ActivInspire Though taking this from one computer to another, is hit and miss, and is not supported. Thanks 1

Thanks I've looked there, but can't see anything obvious .
phillyrovers Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 It's the contents of this entire folder specifically that look after the user interface: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Promethean\ActivInspire\UserProfile It's all of the files in here talking to each other that tell ActivInspire how to look and feel. 1

Ah! I see why it's not supported then. Thanks for the info. (Though if you have the ear of anyone who could effect a change, another entry in the Admin.ini file would be great!)
