Jaan Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 Not sure if this is the right section. A member of SLT has asked us (IT) to look into this. This member of SLT is a DSL, so i suspect its more aimed towards "lockdown" or "invacuation" capabilities. What you guys got? Might have a chat with the Site manager here, as i feel its more SITE than IT. Any input would be great.
Net-Ctrl Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 We work with Bodet to deliver this solution - a popular EDU solution. We work with their Harmony portfolio and IP-Audio approach to the above- https://www.bodet-time.com/products/audio-alert-systems/ip-audio-system.html They also do clocks and time sync across site(s). If you would like to find out more you can send me a PM, or email [email protected] and I can pass on to the relevant person. Others have mentioned Axis has a range as well, but not one I am overly familiar with. 1
Oaktech Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 I'd be looking at Bodet for this. It will not be cheap, but it will be good.
DrBeaker Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 This should surely come under the estates/site/facilities remit - same as the old system would have done. Unless IT support are being paid more to manage another system? Because it 'has a plug on it'? 1
dhicks Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 What you guys got? We use our phones. Interestingly, not really the phone system (3CX) as such, but we have a button on each of our admin / SMT phones defined as a "broadcast to all" button, then each phone in the building is set to pick up that broadcast. We supplement that in larger areas (the main hall, corrridors, etc) with dedicated VoIP speakers. Works over our wired network and covers the whole building, and announcements / lockdown can be done from any phone we want to have set up.
Rob_D Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 +1 for Bodet Harmony. We've had it for about 7 years now using the speakers for lesson change and PA, and recently got it linked into our access control system for physical lockdown and the alarm on the same trigger.

We're looking to upgrade both our bell system and our access control system - what access control systems integrate with Bodet?
Rob_D Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 (edited) We're looking to upgrade both our bell system and our access control system - what access control systems integrate with Bodet? We're using ACT for access control and triggering the lockdown on from the ACT side. Our Bodet system has some switch relay inputs and we've got an output module on ACT that closes the relay to trigger the Bodet input. It should work the same with any system that can output to a basic on/off relay. Edited March 15, 2024 by Rob_D 1

Net-Ctrl Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 We're looking to upgrade both our bell system and our access control system - what access control systems integrate with Bodet? The Bodet kit comes with a dry input which you can use as a trigger. Should work with most systems. There is also some API integration for specific actions. Outside of Bodet, we also deliver Access Control - so if you wanted to sound out the project with someone, send me a PM and I can ask the relevant person to get in touch.
Net-Ctrl Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 We are alos looking at this adn have demo soon. any issues with network , igmp etc. ? Any rough costing ? There are various speakers for different scenarios, including internal/external - you also have additional likes microphones etc. A typical wall speaker I think is somewhere around the £275 mark as an idea. I hope that helps. If you wanted a more accurate cost for your environment - please send me a PM and can ask the best person to get in touch. We can assess site plans and speaker locations and work with you to design an optimal solution.
DWilson1997 Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 We use Bodet Harmonys but don't use their speakers. We use the Harmony's line adapter (PoE device with an AUX out) connected to a 100v amplifier then onto in ceiling speakers (which are about £15 each). The only thing you loose is zone control, but this can be achieved with 3-4 harmonys line adapters + multi zone amplifiers so you can say have 1 zone for classrooms, 1 zone for corridors etc.
