Edugeek Pub Lunch - Ideas? (EduBytes is born)

I been meaning to post this for awhile.

 

Would anyone be interested in a Edugeek pub lunch? I noticed car forums do the same. so why shouldnt we?

I think these are going to end up as regional lunches. People will need to volunteer to organise one in their area.

I will have a speak with Chris tomorrow about organising one in the summer at least and see what we can do. We had been toying with this idea as well we just wanted to get the conf in USA out of the way first.

Count me in, any excuse to go to the pub! Wish I could go to the conf, but unfortunately its in the holiday when I just can't get away. If it was term time I would be set.

as someone who was active on car forums years ago local meets tended to be easier to arrange UNLESS there was something specific there (so in those cases usually something like ford fair etc) local ones i managed to get round a few i think excluding Leeds/Manchester/York as being close i got to bury st edmunds(quite a few times), Birmingham, Oxford, santa pod and a camping trip in Cornwall. Usually rather than pubs though we did stuff like bowling, go karting, games arcade in Trafford centre (i was younger and arcades were more of a thing), pizza hut

I've been involved in meet-ups within a small locality and those worked well, but they were 5 people and a 10 minute drive, not the kind of thing being suggested here. I think I'd have a very hard job justifying to my HT that I'd be out of school for 3 or 4 hours to attend a social/networking event with 50 people and an unknown agenda.
