My contract just expired and I managed to get myself what I think is a pretty decent retentions deal. Here's what I was paying: £38.49/Month (First 6 Months Broadband was half price) 60Mb Broadband (Was gonna be boosted to 100Mb in July) Basic Telephone (Weekends Free) SuperHub 1 18 Month Contract I called to cancel and they offered me: £26/Month 100Mb Broadband Basic Telephone (Weekends Free) SuperHub 2 (Free) 12 Month Contract I refused and gave them my 30 day notice. They called me back 2 days later and offered me: £21/Month (+ 1 Month Free - Effective: £19.25/Month) 100Mb Broadband Basic Telephone (Weekends Free) SuperHub 2 (Free) 12 Month Contract But I negotiated harder, because I wanted the 152Mb, they initially offered it for £26/Month, but I wanted no more than £23/Month, so I persisted and settled for: £25/Month (+ 1 Month Free - Effective: £22.91/Month) 152Mb Broadband Basic Telephone (Weekends Free) SuperHub 2 (Free) 12 Month Contract Not interested in TV and the telephone I only use for incoming calls. I have been with them 19 months now and I have to say the service has been flawless so far compared to issues I suffered constantly when I was with Be (bethere.co.uk) previously. I know the SuperDud was a bit of a joke, but I just got delivery of my new SuperHub 2 today, so hopefully that will give me better wireless performance.

synaesthesia Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I'm paying 34 a month for 60MB broadband, basic phone and the XL tv package for the initial 6 months, then 54 a month after that, which topped Sky by quite a way.

KC is all I can have!! upto 9Meg service 350GB a month Bandwdith Unlimited calls during the week and free mobile minutes of 100 minutes. £50 a month. rich_tech Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I currently pay £47.50 a month for 120 MB Broadband and M package telephone. December this year its getting boosted to 152 MB apparently on logging in to check. I wont get TV because I don't ever want to be in the "Lose Sky" situation I was in before when they argued, though I think with netflix and country switching addons, I will go to a low package on that eventually and use the NET on the TV.

(Just for TV) as we can't have any other broadband. If I were a new customer I would get 6 months half price and then pay 25% less than what I'm paying now. It doesn't bother me about the first 6 months half price but what does get me is the fact that I'm paying 25% more than someone else who's getting the same service as me.

You are under no obligation to leave and you have to give 30 days notice. You can call up all the way to day 29 and withdraw your notice to cancel. But you're pretty much guaranteed to get a phone call from Virgin Media offering you a MUCH better deal. And even then, make sure you haggle! For those who don't get Virgin Media where they live, do the same with Sky or BT. Tell them you are moving to Virgin (or any other competitor!) they won't know you can't get it and they will offer you a decent package to stay. The main rule is NEVER accept their first offer, fight and fight HARD! We have no other suppliers as KC have the monopoly, although I Say that the company I work for has put its own network in the ground, and we supply business customers - and we dont touch KC's network and have got our own feeds from another supplier.. We've taken some big customers on board so now Businesses in the area have a choice aslong as they are not far off our network. Yeah, but do they know that you don't have any other option? They know what's available in your area. They knew I couldn't get BT Fibre, even though BT's website says it's in my area. Don't BS them, they will know. Have a plan that's feasible and you will get a result. Explain your plan, they will rubbish it, they're trained to do that. I cancelled, I was prepared to go through with my plan, but they called me back 4 days later with an acceptable offer. Be aware that if you're after broadband-only, this is a much tougher deal as they want to bundle their phone line. Broadband is the only real commodity of value these days. I just phoned to cancel and got put straight through to the retentions team... told them I was annoyed that my package was so much cheaper to new users and that I wanted to leave because of this. They came back with an offer straight away of 100Mb + Phone for £26 a month.... only downside is I had to sign for another 12 months.
Earthling Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 £60-odd for XL TV package with Sky Sports. I can't get broadband with them anymore since I moved. I don't know why not. Neither do they. The signal comes down the same cable but they don't provide BB to my postcode. If they did, I'd happily pay £100 for BB, TV and phone. I was with them for about 14 years, from 512K (Wow! I can download this 90 meg game demo in the time it takes me to eat my dinner, slowly) cable modem days, never had any problems at all. Ever. Now I'm with BT on one of their fibre packages. I log on to 'My BT' and it tells me I've bought a 56d/25u meg package, but speed tests consistently show I'm only getting 35meg down, on a good day, downhill, with a following wind. 1
