mavhc Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Extracted the msi and related files for this, but will not add to a GPO, "Add operation failed. Unable to extract deployment information from the package. Run validation on the package to ensure that the package is correct", opened with Orca, loads of errors, not managed to fix them. Also Applying Registry Changes by Creating an MST file with Orca for adding licence, untested so far.

Works perfectly, although I used InstEd to import the relevant registry settings (shown below) into the MSI. Much easier than Orca! I have also attached the MST I created too. New(ish) card already bought; need time to fit.

mavhc Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Still just get an Add Operation Failed, so weird, I go to Google Earth click 7.1, don't update, don't help, get an exe, run it, copy _something folder from %temp%, copy to server, try to add to a gpo, instantly Add Operation Failed. Any ideas? Tried on 2 servers, windows 2012 and windows 2012 r2.

Based on the article below I think it is caused by having too many language codes in the MSI... www.hass.de/content/libreoffice-add-operation-failed-unable-extract-deployment-information-package If the maximum length of the Languages field is 256 characters, this might explain why you receive an error since the Google Earth Pro MSI exceeds that number by 11 characters. This is what you need to do to extract the MSI from the EXE. Download the latest Google Earth Pro from here: https://dl.google.com/earth/client/advanced/current/GoogleEarthProWin.exe Install it on a PC or VM that doesn't currently have Google Earth. Go to the C:\Windows\Installer folder, sort by date modified column, find the Google Earth Pro MSI. It's approx. 30MB and will have a random name. Copy the MSI to a different location and rename it to something sensible. e.g. GoogleEarthPro.msi Download the MST attached to this post, rename it to GoogleEarthPro.mst, then deploy the MSI + MST using whatever method you normally use.
