Edugeek Tie!

Having just bought an xkcd tie to add to my collection, how about a funky edugeek tie?

i also really want some cuff links.

If I wore a tie I would wear one but would preffer an EduGeek long sleaved shirt as I do actually wear those

The current EduGeek shirts are a bit like the old Ford Model T. You can have it in any colour and style you like, as long it's black and short-sleeved

Exactly and that is the best style for all this time of year Short sleeved to keep cool and black so you can rub the toner into it when the cartridge showers you in toner as you gently shake it hehe It also helps to hide the general dusty muck I seem to get at work.

 

Oh and if your a geek who suffers in the heat and starts to melt black doesn't really show your embarrassment as much as lighter colours do

@FN-GM It's called freedom of choice, and stragely what you are trying to put down is something that doesn't even exist. It's like trying to denigrate tree fairys. If we did have a tie made up, nobody would force you to buy it. In fact, we wouldn't force anybody to buy it. Now. Somebody has given us a suggestion as to something they would like to wear, and have us spend time, effort and money creating, and all you can do is insult them? That is an attempt to remove freedom of choice. Now my guess is that almost all of your clothes, and even your ties will have a brand name or even a logo on there somewhere, and as your previous comments have suggested, you didn't factor that in when you purchased them, then you went for look alone, which, stangely enough is exactly what anyone buying our currently non-existant tie would do.

 

@Localzuk Yes, we'll look into it. Would people like one big roundel in the middle or lots of little ones? It's your freedom of choice.

I'd prefer a Mason-esq Tie-pin, with a logo that only fellow Edugeekers would know. We could then create a special handshake too.

Lots of little logos I think would be smart, on a black background, but perhaps intersperced with computers or something else? I'm sure Sysman will come up some great ideas

 

A descrete tie pin is also a good idea, perhaps again just the logo without anything else? (it would match the cufflinks )

I think I'd be thinking something with a single logo - I can't imaging a pattern of them looking cool.

 

Maybe it could be the text 'edugeek' multiple times, with a single logo at the bottom?

 

And I'm staying out of the rest of the argument over whether to wear such things - it is a pointless argument. I own ubuntu, firefox, xkcd, and of course, edugeek clothing, and I don't see anything wrong with that. FN-GM's argument is kinda irrelevant. If you don't want to wear such things that's your choice, but some of us do. Otherwise, all cars would look identical, computers would all still be beige boxes, everyone would have clone dogs, and we'd all eat food rations rather than varied foods.

Awesome! Yeah i would love an EduGeek Tie! I would wear it if i had one just like i wear my EduGeek Shirt often (get's alot of people asking questions around birmingham town center) i walked in to subway the one time i was wearing it and he asked what edugeek was and i spent most of my lunch break explaining and telling him he was pretty amazed and said he would be sure to check it out when he got home as he has been looking for a place to ask questions in regards to IT stuff (many other responses were the same)

 

So i generally where mine to get people aware funny when the chavs walk past and shout "GEEEKKK" at the top of there voices just makes me laugh

 

same goes for, Ruckus T-shirt i wear, OP SOftware T-Shirt i wear, Smoothwall T-Shirt i wear, Microsoft T-Shirt i wear.. erm.. plus many others

I like that idea, just the roundel, then you can wear it with anything, and you're not advertising the brand as such, it's like a secret club

 

Tieclip / cufflinks - all in silver (colour, not necessarily the metal) with the gold roundel (again not the metal - unless you want to treat the mods )

 

@Sysman - awesome, once again. I'd want both ties - the first so it's not obvious, and can be worn at any time. The second for more overt branding like at events.
