Sometimes I look at why I work for lower money then my corporate counterparts in IT. Then I realise in corporate IT, you don't get strange and random situations every day due to the unpredictability of the students at the school.

We have a MOSS 2007 site with dynamic contents in a page. When we are using Internet Explorer-6, the content is not overlapping with Footer and when we are using Internet Explorer-7, the content is overlapping with Footer.
We have tried by replacing the height with min-height 100% in CSS file and this is working fine only when the Explorer is in Maximized mode and content is very less. But, when we re-size the window, the content again overlaps with Footer.

3. the postgress service (we're RM) wont start, so nothing is working quite as it should.

Yesterday went well. Our reports for Year 8 were successfully set up on our online homebrew system after bouncing instructions back and forth over EMail and playing with the system itself through it's control panel. Between me and my line manager, we actually pushed the reporting ahead of schedule on top of other tasks sent to me. Though I did discover if I did go into work, I'd have spent most of my day sleeping at my desk given the big energy slumps I was suffering from.

Due to being unable to set foot outside of my house thanks to a knee-jerk reaction by the NHS (oh no, blanket diagnosis of swine flu!) I am being forced to work from home.

4 months ago, I purchased a JVC Everio camcorder. I was hoping to film my trips to London but after running some test footage, I discovered it didn't work. Enter one Fujitsu Siemens primergy tx100 si server. Intention to install as a win 2008 server to run new eclipse library software.
First Attempt: 2008 failing to find hard drives... Realise I needed to use Fujitsu serverview suite to get the OS on.
Second Attempt: Start off with serverview. refuses to install the advanced version of the raid manager, have to use the basic one. Get 2008 on.
Rite so i've got a sever 2008 DC, but it's causing issues cos it's different.
I cant install my RAID tools cos the software is designed for xp/2003 and not 2008/vista... which is gay. So i have to reboot to find the condition of the RAID set.
It wont pick up my tape drive. And i cant get to NTbackup. does it even exist... who noes.

Installing ruby on rails on portable ubuntu on my work pc with the exact same instructions as I used at home. but for some reason I can't start the webserver.
it says
rails requires rubygems >= 1.3.2
Gems tells me there's no updates to be had. There's a solution on the ubuntu instruction page.
sudo gem install rubygems-update
sudo update_rubygems.
unfortunately after successful completion of the first line, it has no idea who or what update_rubygems is.

A combination of things has moved me towards deploying images instead of using RIS cd based setups. These were:
1. Our RIS server broke.
2. Reading about a lot of summer jobs on here where people were talking about images and creating new ones
3. How long it used to take the machines to be ready from building, to WSUS'ing and then to installing the GPO based software and then installing Adobe CS3 with the script.
So I decided to take a look at three options.
