Updated my home bedside pc to 10.04 lucid lynx at the weekend. It was a smooth process for the most part, although took 2 hours on that aging P4/3Ghz. There was a slight worry over the grub update as I have 2 hard drives but I managed to pick the correct drive.
The general interface is darker than Jaunty and the slightly slower start up screens are now purple. Between this purple design and the previous orange I prefer the orange.

As I have not previously kept an online blog I thought that now might just be the time to start. During my degree course I wrote copious entries in a Learning Journal, which proved invaluable on several occasions. Now I am at the start of a new project which, for me, is going to be a challenge. Perhaps by setting out what needs doing I will be able to keep track of developments (both organisational and personal), show progress towards the ultimate goal/s and mark success (and failure) points.

My opinion of Brother printers is well known to my employers and to anyone who has read more than a few of my forum posts so todays weird task was rather strange.

The less critical backups are writing to a fixed external drive. The weekly backup is writing to a external drive we swap every week and put in the safe. I have a user that have to restart his computer a few times in the morning before his map drives comes up. Once it is up it works all day. Then nights he shutdown and next morning same thing.
I have created a group policy, wait for network before login and this have sorted out the problem for about 2 days know we are back with same problem today.
