As I work in a Special School I have always seen the point of tablets, and we will soon get to the point where they will be affordable to purchase in large numbers. I intend replace a trolley with them in 2 years time.
My question is over how managable they are - iPads are great for home users, not so much for integrating into a windows infrastructure - what product have you seen to make you change your mind?

We're in our third year of Electronic Registration, and we looked into Registration during assemblies using EEE-PCs. The excellent Asus EEE-PCs 701 4G were the netbook of choice back then. Using the wonders of nLite we created the well documented slim installation of XP so teachers could use SIMS and register their classes during assemblies (and in other locations).

WinServer 2003, WinXP Thin Clients + Desktops
We've had fun with the SIMS Server over the past couple of weeks. It's been perfectly happy until a Hard Drive failure occured a couple of weeks ago. Not a problem, RAID5 in play so got in touch with HP and a new Hard Drive was dispatched next day, installed and all was well.
Unfortunately not, somehow a couple of directories had become corrupted which we can only assumed happened when this hard drive failed. Still, managed to recover them with no issues but couldn't delete these folders w

So recently our main ICT suite came up for its 4 year renewal. We use ACER 6410 laptops in there and they have done a good job over the years. Now I like these laptops a lot but they are showing signs of age with 512mb or Ram and slow 5200rpm hard disks. Hi I have found a way to block the SWF Games, we use Sophos endpoint security at the school I work in and I have created a data control policy that stops SWF games from being ran in Internet Explorer. I also block the file using hash file settings in group policy if they are trying to run the file directly.
A Data control policy can block SWF games and SWF files from running locally but not directly from the internet, your filtering software will have to be responsible for this and be right
