Our school purchased 2 SONY Viao Laptops VPCEE3E0E/WI models. We installed Windows 7 Pro because the pre-installed Home Edition did not allow us to network to our Small Business setup. Now I cant get the drivers to connect via cable, the SONY website has been used to download and install all latest drivers and updates with no luck. Can anyone point me in the direction of a driver that will work and get these machines wired to our network. Another problem possibly related perhaps not; is that these computers will not connect to a Sky WiFi HUB in home user situation. Any ideas???

Pay cuts are all the rage.

Same as me Brian, My school has refused point blank to acknowledge the skills I use to the job. I assume you are referring to the BECTA standards for job evaluation? The main idea for any manager is to cut pay, I suffered a 12% pay cut and am still fighting. Join Voice which has helped me a great deal.

My advice to you Steve is, don't do anything you don't get paid for. If they want you to teach ICT set yourself up as a self employed teacher.

Make sure you have domain admins permissions. Sophos also plants its own permissions in Active Directory. Make sure you are part of the permissions group within these planted groups.

If do anything ubove your job description. Are you insured and whos head will they come looking for if something goes wrong. It needs thinking about H&S issues are very harsh.

If anyone out there has an example of an ICT Technicians Job Description, please post it to me. I am conducting a survey of job titles to job description for the Job Evaluation done at my school. Ended up with a 14% cut in pay and that hurt!! E-mail [email protected]

Don't worry my old china. The school I work for reduced my wages by 14% under the Single Status rules. My technical skills are no longer written into my Job Description.
