So here we are, 3 days count down has begun (started thinking about packing) for the trip of a lifetime to Cameroon to lead and try and stimulate change with an ICT Focus.

I fly out this Saturday 5th of December at middle-of-night-oclock returning the following Tuesday the 15th hopefully armed with pictures, stories and even a movie introducing the Community (may name it a Study) Centre.

The objective for this trip is to deploy a solution for a 'walk in' centre for local people to have access to facilities to learn skills in ICT.

Unfortunately as the container ship will not be there when we arrive, the most recent kind donations will not feature as much as they will do ultimately but we are intending on taking a few of maniac's TC1100's in hand luggage to put in place as an example moving forward.

We will also be visiting local schools including "private" ones to see their usage of ICT and whether a solution can be refined further to provide sustainable, high quality yet affordable provision for all and sundry.

As we all know, ICT provision & service delivery is important; more so in this case is the documentation as with me being thousands of miles away and a lack of internet for remote support, training the trainer (ala FITS) will be crucial to ensuring local resources can maintain and perform routine tasks on the solution.

My intention is to write a post per day whilst I'm over there but they may come in bundles depending upon my access to the cybercafe (should I find one!).

This trip may be the first of many but I'll know much more after this first one.
