OK - so Sharepoint has Forums (well, discussion boards as they call them) built in. However, not really as full featured as I would like - or as you would see elsewhere on the Internet.
So... came across this a while back from Codeplex. Problem... not strictly WSS3/MOSS 2007 compatible. Fair dooooos - thought would leave it alone a bit.
Most other things on our system are sorted now, so I went back to it. This is what it looks like (attached), and also a link to it...

I'm not going to detail the process here since only out of date institutions like ours are still using this and if you really need the instructions are all over the net (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/832671). But, boy what a palaver! I thought I'd have to attach a update or to to the MSI deployment in GPO. Instead I had to unpack the update and tap in a pretty long command to get the ball rolling.

So, I've placed the orders for my two Multiseat systems. Both machines will be self built. I've not ordered TFT's this time as I'm refurbing Lab1 over the summer and some of the old TFT's from their will be used with these two systems.
Before I give the specs for the two Multiseats, I thought I'd share the specs of the front runner desktop I'm considering for Lab1.

I've installed Windows 7 RC1 on my laptop and I have to say.. I really love it. I' haven't had time to really test it yet but I'm planning on doing that this afternoon. I installed it on a Toshiba Satellite Pro ( specs to come in a later post) and the entire install, from putting the DVD in to logging on for the first time took 35 minutes, i was really impressed, it's a marked improvement on both Vista and the Beta version of 7.

I've used Windows 7 Beta before, both on my home laptop and my work computer and I have to say I really like it. It's far and away a better OS than Vista, I can certainly see why many people will be bypassing Vista and waiting for 7 to come out.

Application Data
This is a folder that is commonly mis-used, It should store data related to the application (For example: user preferences) and is not a location where you can save files from the application.
My Documents
This is a default location where user files should be stored. Not Application data, program files ect.
Creating Folder in My Documents
There is no need to create folders that may never be used, wait till the folder is actual

You know, I am slowly warming up to Fronter. Regardless of the trouble suffered by LGfL during the start of this academic year with their login system, it is very good when it works.
I have been getting to grips with making pages, using tools and generally spicing things up as practice. I've seen productive (and not so productive) student message board posts, taught teachers how to use RSS feeds and promoted special events with the News tool.

After the many intense sessions with Andrew Clake at Waterford Tech on the wide range of modules -I would say my fave one in particular which stood out to me was the storage manager module.
